I think he can be a 10 sack guy with more starting reps.

the guy has been healthy all his life.. if he comes here and suddenly has a terrible injury then we need to launch an investigation as to why this happens way to much with our team

i would be shocked if one of our first three picks is not a very very good rookie edge rusher.

Thats a lot of money for a depth guy. 6 mil a year?

Im assuming hes gonna get a chance to play a bunch if hes making that much. Most likely means Hyder is gone

He just makes 2m this year and they can dump him in 2022 if he doesn't work out as they expected. Hyder can still be brought back if they want. Ebukam is most likely taking the Ronald Blair role.

This isn't a great year for edge rushers. Some guys that might end up being good but there isn't talent like we've seen the last 2 or 3 years.

Indeed it's not. There's not a Garrett, Bosa, Young, Watt caliber prospect. Not even Burns or Sweat.
Reminds me of 2018 when it was just Bradley Chubb and then nothing worth a high pick. More about QB, WR, OL.
This year is worse as nobody is worth a high pick.
Bosa is coming back from a major injury, Ford is irrelevant, Ebukam as I said is a rotational player like Blair was. Still need other edge guy so AA can stay inside where he plays better. I'd bring back Hyder and draft an edge in round 4

I could see our defensive evolve into more mixed looks and Ebukam can play SAM and DE in the scheme. I'd still want Hyder back if available.

Interesting point. He lined up as a 3-4 OLB a good number of times from the few snaps I watched of him. He has good natural leverage being 6'2 and actually got some push on Trent Williams a few times. Couldn't get around TW but did push the pocket a little bit, impressive considering it was vs TW.
I looked his draft info and he's actually not even 6'2". Dude is barely 6'1" at 6' 7/8".

No wonder he took McFloppy for a ride with his power rush. That's a terrible matchup for 6'8" McFloppy.

not asking for cedrick hardman or tommy hart.. but a nice rookie who is a good pass rusher..

I disagree. There aren't any true Top 10 pick type edge rushers but there's very good depth through the middle of the draft. Plenty of guys that would fit well into a Wide 9 style. The sweet spot, like with interior OL is Late 1st to mid 3rd.

There's no Bosa or Chase Young but the 49ers wouldn't be in position to draft someone like that anyways.

For reals lol
This dude is pretty damn good in base against the run and pass. Maybe he can play off-ball SAM LB in base in this defense. What's surprising is, despite being undersized, he wins with power. His go-to move is a decent little bullrush that he finishes with a forklift technique to pry tackles' hands off him. He's not really a speed guy. I haven't seen a single rep yet of him winning at the top of the arc. Most of his pressures are from effort. I don't really view him as a true pass rusher at this stage in his career. He's a good option for twists and slants, but more so, he's a quality moveable piece for a crafty coordinator. You can use him to spy a mobile QB, drop into a zone, man him up on a RB or rush the QB.
