His go-to move is a decent little bullrush that he finishes with a forklift technique to pry tackles' hands off him. He's not really a speed guy. I haven't seen a single rep yet of him winning at the top of the arc. Most of his pressures are from effort. I don't really view him as a true pass rusher at this stage in his career. He's a good option for twists and slants, but more so, he's a quality moveable piece for a crafty coordinator. You can use him to spy a mobile QB, drop into a zone, man him up on a RB or rush the QB.
Been waiting for my go to pass rush guys eval

Rumor is DeMeco Ryans is going to be more aggressive and blitz happy than Saleh was.
Maybe this is a confirmation he wants a speed based defense like the Rams installed last year

I wasn't kidding about this the other day: No one will stop talking about Samson Ebukam's speed, but the guy has a legit power move — even at 250. You really have to see it to believe it. He almost looks more comfortable bullrushing. But I think the Wide 9 can unleash his wheels

Yup, but I've got good news: I went back to his college tape, and the SPEEEEEEEEEEEEED rush is there in spades. In fact, that appeared to be his go-to move in college. I wonder if coaching influenced the change in style. This is what I know for sure: Ebukam is one of the pound-for-pound strongest players in the league. His strength coupled with his natural leverage(6'1") gives tackles fits, and he took a couple of prominent players(Mitchell Schwartz* for one) for a ride. People are going to be surprised when they see this dude, who is pretty damn small(about Dee Ford's size), absolutely manhandle tackles.
I've got clips isolated on tape, but I'm a lazy f**k. Maybe I'll cut them up later. But I'm very excited about Ebukam. I wouldn't be surprised if the 49ers see him as a DW!
Dude was an absolute terror in this game.

Tampa sorta showed this as a good blueprint to combat a modern offense. As did we the year before.
Edit ya nvm that he's a tweener and would probably struggle in space
I have a feeling our defense is gonna be lights out even though it will be Ryans' first year as a DC. I can't wait for the draft...

Great stuff. I love these kinds of finds. Maybe that means we'll see less of AA on the edge in W9 and more inside.

Yup, if Kocurek can turn Hyder (who averages 1 sack a year without Kocurek) into an 8 sack monster, imagine what he can do to a more talented athlete that averages 4+ sacks a year.
