so basically makes no sense.

hyder grading at 65.2

The biggest difference between Hyder and Ebukam is that Hyder won his fair share of 1-on-1s last season. The dude was super crafty with his technique, and the DL could depend on him to get to the QB.

Ebukam struggles mightily to win his 1-on-1s. The 49ers can't rely on him at all to get to the QB by himself. Ebukam is best used on manufactured rushes--ex the play referenced above.

Overall, this is a fantastic job of rushing as a unit by the whole group. Arden Key does a great job of occupying the left guard long enough to allow Ebukam to clear; Armstead does the dirty work and plugs the middle.

Maybe they can run these with Ebukam lined up next to Bosa who will no doubt draw a lot of attention. Let AA and Ford work the right side

Big sack yesterday in the 3rd.

Yes it was but the Kid had an overall good game also. This play was spectacular…and he IS fast. Agreed tho, that this was a DLine sack, every guy working to get the sack, required all to do great jobs…and they did. Love to see more of this.

Playing better
He's certainly not playing lights out but he's scrappy and love his motor.
He's putting together some decent games lately but he needs to continue and get better.
He showed up quite a bit against the Bengals, Didn't always get home but was around the ball a lot and never looked like he gave up on a play.
As much as I loved Hyder, I think he's a product of the system, he has 0.5 sacks, less Tackles, TFLs, & QB hits than he did in 2020, https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HydeKe01.htm, https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/EbukSa00.htm

Both are playing nearly the same amount of snaps. Thing is, Hyder is in his 30s, Ebukam is much younger.

No one on the DL will be playing lights out like Bosa is, but Ebukam has been good this season IMO, I'd hold onto him.

Hyder is also strictly a DE/DT whereas Ebukam is an OLB/DE. 275lbs vs 245lbs. The extra athleticism on the edge has been very noticeable this year.

He was invisible at the start of the season but has started to make a few plays

I think moving Armstead inside has had a huge effect on the defense. We're now more stout inside and more athletic outside. Remember, even the Lions we're ripping off huge runs up the middle. Now that we've shut that down our edges are starting to feast (Bosa had 3 sacks last game).

Not to mention, we aren't running single high press man on 3rd downs anymore. QB's were just throwing it up against the single coverage and either coming down with it or getting PI... all before the rush even had a chance.

I think this shows that DeMeco is making adjustments & they're working. The defense has been much better since the Rams game, hoping Nick can get 6 sacks in the last 4 games to break the single season record for the 49ers.

Agree. It would be so cool for Bosa to get 6 sacks (in the next game )
Ebukam is a young guy, only 26 years old, and I'm hoping he continues to improve his game as the season wears on. If he does, he'll be able to free up Bosa for some more additional sacks. Omenihu's another guy that is trending up. He had two tackles recently and his snap counts are trending up also. Key's snap counts have dropped (when compared to the Raiders snap counts) but every sack from here on in, is breaking his all time career records.
