I think this is a terrible idea. This isn't collage football. They're grown professionals. Position groups should be number-specific. The NFL should have a different standard than collage kids. If anything they should stiffen the restrictions on jersey numbers, not lesson it. I don't wanna see WR's wearing single digit numbers in games, or see QB's wearing numbers in the 20's, or lineman wearing #10. Personally, I'd like to see the league restrict, for example, WR's to 80's numbers unless the team can show they have no more 80's numbers on the 53 man roster. I admit a bit of bias.. I'm a bit of a football purist in matters like this. I never liked WR's wearing numbers in the teens. So I hope this proposal never passes.

I need to hear about some kickers trying to get #99 from a D linemen. But I will say DBs wearing single digit numbers looks clean. Ultimately I don't care

Trust me, that'll happen if this rules is passed. I don't wanna see neither. Keep that in HS and collage football where the children are.

I used to hate it, but it's grown on me over the years. As long as the QBs stay 1-19

Yeah maybe it's being a 49er fan but once I see a receiver in 16 my brain is all of a sudden like this is wrong
every other teen number on a WR looks great though just not 16

I don't get why the NCAA doesn't adopt NFL rules if thats where their players are supposed to be headed.

Well, they won't. They'll seek to remain distinguished in how they do things. Which is why I say this is a bad idea.

Couldn't care less what numbers players wear.
