it's called marketing Tom... the same reason why you have that TB12 cap that you wear..
but really, I was never a fan of this college style of " any numbers " ... it looks stupid..

Especially lean McGlinchey. He could pass for a TE
Nothing changes for OL or DL, for that reason. Its basically just allowing skill position players, LB, and DB's to wear 1-49 now.

Call me an old ass man and I'm always down for swag and drip but I think it's stupid, like Aiyuk said, leave that s**t for the college kids. Kyle Pitts is wearing 8 and I think it looks dumb seeing a TE on Sundays wearing 8. It's the socks, cleats and uniform I don't care what they do but numbers don't agree on

This is going to be the season of the display of who's the grown BOYS in the NFL. I guess childish things never really get put away in the NFL.

I love the new number rule. I hope more of our players use it in the future.

So what exactly is the rule? Any position can have any number or are there still some positional restrictions?

O-Linemen (50-79)and QBs (1-19) the only ones that have rules on numbers. Too my knowledge. Pretty much any position that cause confusion for referees have to stick to traditional numbers.

Thank you. I feel like the people against this rule change probably will get really upset when teams start un-retiring numbers.
