I'd be willing to bet any dollar amount that you want that we get over 3 wins if a rookie is our starter at QB.

3 wins?
Lacking objectivity much?

Well, now where is the loud vocal minority who said " we need to trade JG " before the regular season starts?
That has been my point all along here. We have the best 1-2 punch at QB of any team in the NFL. Why on earth would kyle or JL do something incredibly stupid like trading JG? If Trey or JG went down, we have the best circumstance of anyone in the league, assuming we see the Trey of the first 5 completions and not the last 9 (3 of which, or 2 really, were dropped). Can one even imagine we trade JG and then Trey goes down (or vice versa) and then….well, fill in the blanks. We are screwed.
We're in the catbird's seat and Jed is fine with paying Jimmy even if he doesn't start. He will, but still, why give away one of the best QB duos in the league? We are stacked and ready to make a run for the SB…only to win it this time. Having a starter plus a potential star at qB…how often does that happen? Answer: RARELY.

Agreed 100%,
or... could the Brick by Brick Combo just continue to UP Grappy's value by basically letting everyone know at the moment that he is our starting QB?
I wonder if both will give Grappy now if Denver or Washington offers a 2nd rounder that can be turned into a 1st rounder?

Ok I'll bite even though I know I shouldn't, but, the 49ers aren't trading Garaoppolo, no team has the cap room to absorb his deal, plus, remember, he has a no trade clause.

I wonde rif Jimmy would be happy if Trey becomes the starter? Would he accept being a backup? That's a great situation for the team but it sure won't enhance Jimmy's trade value in the off season.
The best case case scenario is Jimmy plays all year and the Niners go deep into the playoffs. Then his trade value goes up in the off season. Maybe we get a 1st rounder instead of a 2nd. Or maybe it's 2 second rounders. If some desperate team offers something crazy for JG during the season I could see them trading him but that would depend on how much Trey has progressed and the team record.

I wanted to trade JG because I had my hope so far up my ass that I thought the 9ers were getting Aaron Rodgers!!!! I wanted to and still want to trade JG to get the growing pains over with and let Trey Lance take his lumps and get the era started. But you make a good point doc and I'm just ready to roll with whatever happens in 2021.

I have been saying this al along.
I wonder how many people wanted to trade Young or Montana during that 4-5 years stretch when they had to co-exist on the roster?

Montana was winning super bowls so I doubt anyone would want to trade him... And young was the one being developed.

Not how I remember it, fans were split down the middle. Many wanted to trade Joe and many wanted to see Young go.
I was/am a big Joe Montana fan so I wanted to keep both with Young as the back up.

Young was great, but I think we would have won 2 more SB if we have kept Joe. We will never know tho.
