Agreed, I don't know WTF they were thinking. This seems like another "draft a punter in the 4th round" move.

It's a depth signing that plays QB. The cap goes up so does contracts for players. All these guys we're proclaiming as good backups are gonna get paid more than people think.

It's part of the reason why I said SF should have traded Minshew this past off season. Dude is making nothing and cost a conditional 6th.

he's barely played man, wtf are you referring to?

This? I have no idea what he's referring too...was it his 12 passing attempts in 2020 lol?
Are we going into the season with trey and sudfeld?

I feel a thelma and louise moment coming on...
90 man roster move. Hopefully, nothing more. More to come.

You know free agency hasn't started yet, right?

They don't pay $2 mills guaranteed if they don't plan on keeping him on 53. That means unless 49ers plan to keep 3 QBs, QBs will be trey and sudfeld regardless of whether FA has started or not. So let's all hope they are planning to keep 3 QBs on 53 this year.

Honestly I think a lot of these 3rd tier past "starters" are gonna make wayyy more money then people think. You got a scrub starter you're gonna pay up for a Marcus/Taylor/Mitch type guy. Hell sounds like some of these dudes might be legit starters for some teams. Winston isn't gonna play for $5M after seeing Nasty Nate get $2M.

Cap space goes up so do contracts. We will see, I like everyone would prefer a better option as the backup.
Well Kyle has been consistent on sticking with crappy back ups outside of last year.

Sudfield is a 3rd string qb. I don't know what you expect from a 3rd string player?

Go watch that game against the Redskins and tell me he ´s at least an average QB and you´re confident with him on the team.
Again with Kyle as coach, QBs seem to be injured a lot. It would be wise to have a good back-up. I still think they will take someone else as QB2.
But what a weird QB to have on your roster.
He's a future starter in the league and the pride of Modesto, CA. I have full faith as the #2 and if called upon we will rally around Stud and we will play good football.

Every year during the season backups are dealt. Let's be positive. We don't need a backup any longer except to hold the clipboard. Injury days behind us. Knock on wood.

Gotta say I am seeing that starter potential. Would be nice to lock him up long term as a reserve / trade candidate. At least for one more year.
