It was a Key moment for sure
Already tied his season career high with two sacks. Key might actually have a career season. Kris Kocurek magic strikes again.

My understanding this was a first round pick talent who had red flags that dropped him down. Check out this quote:

Prior to Key's junior season, he was projected as the number one overall prospect for the 2018 NFL Draft by Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports

We may have found a total steal here. This could be a key acquisition.

He dropped because he isn't very talented, a poor athlete, and had a view of off-field red flags. He was overhyped mainly because of his production as a Sophomore at LSU.

He's actually not big, long, or fast at all. He's tall(almost 6'5") but has short arms for that height(33.5"). He's ridiculously undersized and played at 235 lbs during best season as a Sophomore at LSU. Additionally, despite being only 238 lbs during the draft process, the guy ran a pedestrian hand-timed 4.85 at his pro day--not fast whatsoever.

He put on 30 lbs the following season at LSU and lost every bit of explosiveness that he had, which completely crippled him because he has no power or hand game to fall back on. I think that's why he dropped down to 238 lbs at the combine. As disgustingly light as that is for an NFL edge, it's probably best for him to play in the 230s as a situational pass rusher because that's where he had the most success.

I remember evaluating this dude and being completely baffled by his hype. His tape was super underwhelming. He had a speed rush and nothing else. His hand technique is terrible, he has no counter and he's an absolute liability in run defense. He would get manhandled by tight ends and shy away from contact. Also, there were times where he would completely check out--his effort was a major red flag. The worst part his game that I knew would bite him in the ass in the NFL is that his only trick, his speed rush, wasn't anything special, either. He wasn't super bendy like a Von Miller or explosive like a Dee Ford. I think people saw his sack total and hyped him up.

Fortunately for him, he's now in the most pass-rush-friendly scheme in the league under the guy I believe to be the best DL coach in the league. So, if he's going to do anything, it'll be here.

I've never understood looking at 40 times for d-linemen. When on Earth will he have an opportunity to run 40 yards on a line?

He was the #6 rated at his position as a prep. 4 star recruit. Recruited to LSU. That's all really good stuff.

Got to the QB at LSU. Freshman All-American. Set the school sacks record as a soph. More good stuff. May not be all that and a bag of chips but for the cost to acquire I'm excited. After Bosa he may be our best bet to get to the QB. Was all around the QB on MNF and eventually got home with a key sack in a key situation.

The post I quoted was a reply to someone saying he's fast. He's not fast. Also, teams look at 40 times for the 10-yard split. The 10-yard split is a strong indicator of how quickly a player can explode off the ball and close the distance to the QB. Every elite edge rusher in the NFL has a good-to-great 10-yard split.

Fair enough. But if he's slow and not that great I'm not sure why he would not only be starting at LSU but dominating. Granted I'm not watching I haven't been into college football as much as I used to. I defer to your expertise here. Just seems to me LSU has their pick of the litter. They picked this guy. I presume that means they think he has the tools to succeed. He then not only beat out all the other LSU guys to start but rolled over QBs at record pace. I dunno. Just hope he keeps it up. Would be key if he did.
Key has 2 sacks this season. Neither is against a tackle lol. People are getting way too overhyped over beating a tight end and a guard. Unless the opposite team plans to continue putting a tight end on him or he's going to turn into an interior DL, this isn't sustainable. Demeco seems to prefer using him as an interior player in their nascar package on money downs, so maybe that's where he'll find success. But he hasn't done s**t as an edge rusher.

I had to look up his career stats, and you are right, he's equaled his career high in sacks this season already. Kudos to Kocurek for spotting this talent. As others have said, he's pitch perfect for Kocurek's wide 9. I hope he continues to develop.

I remember looking at him in 2018 when we still had Cassius Marsh, and I thought he'd have been a great pick for us. We went instead for Pettis (pick #44) and Fred Warner (Pick #70) and never had the opportunity to get Arden (pick #87). I really liked his draft profile and reminded me a bit of Fred Dean. Fred was also an undersized defensive end, but he was bull strong, explosive, and fast. If Arden can continue to develop under Kocureck and be a solid DE, that's a great acquisition for ShanaLynch.

Hey stop being a party pooper by stating the truth. Just like folks got hype about Ebukam's 1 sack versus the Bears

So you're saying he won't be key for us going forward?

This key won't open the door to the playoffs.

This reminds me of 2018 when I was telling people to pump the brakes after Cassius Marsh's big game against the Cardinals(I think it was AZ. maybe it was Oakland). I pointed out how the dude's history shows he sucks, and the sacks he had in that game were low-quality sacks(ie not sustainable and not to be relied on). A few people chose to mock, ignore, and pretend Marsh had arrived.
