Omenihu, Bosa, Ebukam (restructured deal), a rookie speed rusher, and Hyder (on a vet min if Seattle releases him) at edge and Jones, Armstead, Key, Givens, and Kinlaw inside. Probably 1 too many lol.

Truth. Man, that's a lot of talent and depth. Maybe stash rookie on the PS if we get one.

The rookie I'm thinking of will be drafted too high to be a practice squad candidate. My lineup could work if Ebukam plays some linebacker lol. Other than that, no way we have 10 D-linemen.

We had 10 at the end of the season(Armstead, Jones, Bosa, Ebukam, Key, Street, Givens, Omenihu, Willis, Hurst), plus they had Kerr & Kinlaw & Dee on the roster before they were cut(Kerr) and on IR(Kinlaw & Dee), so expect 10 to be kept, with them keeping 5 LBs like this past season.

This

I think you stick with the process and roster setup that allowed the defense to play as well as they did from about mid-season to the playoffs

I wish we could afford Chandler Jones.

Don't be surprised if a team, say the Dolphins with a particular HC with familiarity of Key and a boatload of FA money comes calling and we decline to get into a bidding war. Obviously I hope he stays, signs another 1-year deal, has another good year and cashed in big time. But he may see the $$ elsewhere this offseason and bolt.

I think bidding up players due to familiarity is what dolphins will do on the oline. There are not a lot of guys who really know the OZ scheme I assume macdaniel is going to bring. I can see him overpaying some combo of laken (why we need go wrap him up ASAP) brunskill and Compton.

The latter two, while not ideal players, at least know, and can help teach the system

HA yeah I'm good either way...not giving him anything real.

I think Charles Omenihu will take over that role anyway.
DAMN every FA wants back, but, like, money is the key thing, as it usually is lol.

I totally get it with Laken and DJJ, but Arden Key is a niche player. He's not good as an edge rusher, but he's damn good at rushing the passer from inside, which is such a small role in the big picture. I don't even know how to quantify his role, but it's far from starting edge money.

I'd love to have him back on the cheap, but some team desperate for a pass rusher will probably get bamboozled into giving him the bag and end up disappointed when they realize he's only good on 1/3 of downs from inside.

The overarching takeaway from all of this is that the 49ers' badly need Javon Kinlaw to step the f**k up in a major way. People keep talking about he just needs to get healthy. No, he needs get healthy, get good and become a player worthy of the 14th overall pick.
