After the Key signing I took a look at a Raiders board and most everyone was fine or happy with Key leaving because he underachieved, but almost everyone on the board was upset or mad that Hurst was gone.
From what little I've seen, both of these guys have a lot of potential and Hurst is already solid.

When you think about it, the 49ers basically traded Thomas to the Raiders for Hurst and Key.
This offseason is strange but do you think there could something more fundamental going on where the 49ers are becoming the preferred fall-back plan for underappreciated DL guys who can't get a multiyear contract elsewhere? The Hyder model of play a year for coach K then cash out?

I thinks the first 3 will be solid contributors and hoping Key will as well.
With all these signings it allows the Niners to focus on OL and DB in rounds 2-3-4 in my opinion.
I'm all for OLine and DB. 3rd and 15, if our DLine and DBs hold up, we can shut down those plays!

Wow! do they trade up for OLine or DB?

Get some more DBs. We will have the best defense in the NFL

Dude was a monster in college. Extremely quick first step for interior d lineman. Great pick up

This is exactly why they kept a buffer and didn't go out and sign some other overpriced and overrated players like Casey Hayward.
I know what you mean but Hayward is not overpriced nor overrated. One of the top 10 corners from 2017-2019.
It's 2021 not 2019. His play last year was ass
I didn't know it's 2021? He had one year where he wasn't great that doesn't mean s**t. Patrick Peterson is still a good corner but his last year's performance was pitiful. Let me guess, were you one of those people that said Sherman was washed out and then the next year he made the pro bowl? Yeah you probably were
That's common sense, but anyways back to Hurst. This is a great signing we have four starting level DTs now
At least you 2 aren't beefing about Jaire

This. A lot of people in here wanted Hurst and we got him and I for one wanted Key solely on his 2 time all SEC first team Pedegree. He definitely has potential to be a good back up and I believe eventually a starter with our D line coach coaching him up. He's so quick and hits so damn hard. I think we might've gotten a sleeper here. Between Kerr Hearst and key along with that Rams linebacker we just got 4 very good pieces to our defense
kerr and Hurst were both top 12 graded DTs per PFF. I'm not a huge PFF guy but if you watch them play
Kinlaw
Dj
Kerr
Hurst
all 4 starting DTs and that's not even including Armstead or Givens. We are set at DT even with injuries that will happen. Same with rb. Great job by the front office. Now all we need is a 2 outside cbs in the draft or fa. If jimmy is traded we can afford Sherman or Hayward

Dude better be at least one sack better than Hyder or I'm blowing him up on Twitter.

Hurst is a DT not a DE.

I don't know a lot about him but everywhere I'm reading people are saying he's good.

Love this signing, Hurst is a stud! The DT position is super deep. AA, Kinlaw, Hurst, Kerr, and DJ Jones are all starters in the league. Not surprised if they move AA(Saleh's favorite) to the Jets for a high 2nd or 3rd

We are one good CB away from having a team with no glaring needs. Off course one extra IOL, Slot WR, TE2, LB and DB won´t hurt at all
