It's the smart thing to do for Trey and the 9ers.

If we get to the semi's, Jimmy coming back for an encore next year. And that's fine.

Lol Jimmy isn't coming back next yr

Agreed only way Jimmy is coming back next year is if he is an MVP canidate

that being said unless there is an injury i think Jimmy G finishes out the year

Agreed.. He'll remain the starter this year unless something unfortunate happens.

However, next year, we'll be giving the keys to the offense to Lance, and take it from there.

If he's ready. He may never be good enough to hand the keys over to
Was good to not see him come on for any plays yesterday. Stick to one QB
I don't think Shanny is confident in Trey's passing abilities at this stage and that is whey TL is not getting sprinkled in here and there... defenses know when he is in there it's Trey-cat time and they load the box and man up with press daring him to beat them with the pass

Shanny did think about it though according to the post game interview. But only for a minute.

Jimmy looked ordinary in this game - a couple of more of these and hopefully we'll be seeing Trey in there.
Ordinary?, did you see how Matt Ryan looked when playing philly lol

Jimmy struggled most of the game. Got to be better or we'll see a losing streak and whispers of Trey will starting emerging.

I agree with everything you said except that last paragraph.

There is no way Jimmy is coming back next year. We need that $26M rollover for Bosa's extension.
I felt like this week the offense did not get in any sort of rhythm for most the first half. Throwing Trey in there was not going to help that, However you could argue that a spark from him may have been good. If he came in and did nothing or had negative plays than it could have been over for the offense.

Once we finally did get in a rhythm it was to late and we need to maintain that. I think we would have seen trey if we do not start with 3, 3 and outs. Even if it was move the ball to our 40 and punt then you can look for that spark. At that point you would have had close to 15-25 plays and 3-5 first downs. That is a lot different than 9 total plays half way through the 2nd quarter.

$26m is nothing to the York's. That's a Vegas vacation to them.

I posted before the Lions game that Kyle might use that game to show off some Lance to f**k with teams for the rest of the season...but in actuality, not use Lance again the same amount per game the rest of the year.

Trey Lance is Kyle's backup QB... if Jimmy gets hurt, Trey is the one who has been practicing this whole time..and would be the most prepared to take over.

You can't chance your Back Up Qb's health with Zone Read type plays.

Rhythm or not, the only time I see Trey get in there going forward is maybe redzone situations. And Jimmy has already gave a hint, he doesn't like when that happens.. which is understandable... Kyle might not push for that either anymore, if Kyle wants to keep Jimmy's confidence going.

A little extra time to get the finger healthy too.

This does make sense as well and is a good point. One thing you made me think about was the fact that this week Trey's main point in practice was to be "hurts." So he did not spend a lot of time in preparation for coming into this game other than normal backup duties.

This week we will not need to do that as nate will be the scout team QB and not him. Will this mean we see more of him? Who knows but we might and then we can set a level of expectation going into the future.

$26M might be chump change to Jed.

It's a ton to the NFL salary cap, though.
