Outplaying in what practice? It's the season there isn't outperforming QBs in a mid-season practices at this point. It's all about film study, recovery, and weekly game planning. They're not gonna bench Jimmy because of a bad Wednesday practice lol.

when you draft a QB high let alone give up the farm, you should expect bumps in the road and a guy to not be some stud…ya'll want him to "develop" but don't want him to play which is counterproductive imo. Can't have your cake and eat it too

He means when Lance shows Kyle he's ready, and yes that would have to be in practice.
I'm with you on the sink or swim part, Trey absolutely has to play. My belief is Kyle simply feels Trey isn't even ready for that at this point. Probably having second thoughts about that trade but that's not even the point. If he thought Trey was capable, he would be out there now.

Perhaps one reason Lance got no reps vs PHI is because the PHI defense is very familiar with the zone read and all its variations since Hurts runs it in practice. That and the hostile crowd, with it being a very tight game vs a good DL.

Yah with the way the Pack stop the run there might be a bigger dose of Trey this week.

I expect him to sprinkle in some Lance against the Packers. Night game at home against a so so defense is a much better opportunity for him to get a few snaps.

Kyle isn't going to trade wins for development.

That's the conundrum and why I thought a developmental project qb was the absolute wrong choice here.
Trey has to develop…..but to develop he has to play….but he's not ready….so where do we go from here?

Think Kyle knew all along Trey needed time. I argued with NY about that very thing with Trey in the draft thread. No way he was gonna be ready as a rookie.

I doubt Kyle regrets anything right now. He's not Brian Flores or Chris Grier.

Lance to be the starting QB next season is still the likely plan.

I would prefer us trading for Stafford instead, but at this point it is what it is.

Home crowd could play a big factor. A more relaxed atmosphere to help calm any nerves. With the uncertainty at RB, the running game can use a boost with some zone read stuff.

Let h learn the playback and see how the game flows for awhile while mixing him in a little bit is my best guess.

Lol then he should have NEVER spent 3 1sts on a 20 yr old that played one season of football…ya'll want development yet don't want to put the time in to develop him overall.

It doesnt HAVE to be one or the other, though.

Also did you catch the yardage that Goff ran for on designed an run plays. My dumb arse saw it so I am sure Kyle said alright I got that!
Goff ran for yardage because the Defense was spread out trying to protect pass first... Trey won't see that, if he goes in they will pack the box and press...

Then bombs away - playaction, hit Aiyuk on the Post. That shouldn't be a difficult read.
