There really isn't any hard evidence to support whether a qb is better developed by sitting his rookie year or starting his rookie year. All I know is unless Jimmy completely lays a stinker of a game or gets injured, Trey will not be starting this year.
First sentence is correct based on evidence. The second sentence is an opinion.
In regards to my second statement, what evidence have you seen that would convince you otherwise?
The only evidence is 4 snaps against a bottom 5 defense and 0 snaps against a good, possibly top-5 defense.
and most importantly ...a head coach's decision.
Which again is why I'm interested to see if he has any snaps on Sunday, as I view GB's D more in line with DET as opposed to PHI.
Do you think that a few snaps in a game or few could change Kyle's mind even if JG stays healthy and we are winning?

70% of the Pats passing offense right now is screens or short/underneath 1st reads. I wouldn't say Mac is running a legit 'pro' offense.
Jimmy and Mac

Oh stop. 1st reads...C'mon NY, you're better than that. You know darn well that Jimmy G isn't just hitting first reads. Week 1, all those shots to Deebo over the middle were 2nd's, he hit a number of 3rds this past Sunday. Just staahhhhhhp

Wasn't Jennings TD the fourth read?

that doesn't fit the argument of starting them the first game. not that many QBs did. if your argument is truly just playing time in their rookie season.. they you are debating nothing as trey already played

That play was basically designed to go to Jennings, while Kittle being a decoy. But overall Jimmy has a done a good job this year going through different reads.

When did I say start him the 1st game? I never said that at all…I've said sometime around or after the bye would make sense. I also said if he doesn't start he should get snaps outside of a couple runs throughout the yr

I'm sure there will be a blowout here and there where they'll put him out there to handle mop up duties.

I'd rather him get snaps like he did vs DET, even if it's just 3-5 snaps running the ball, rather than mop up duty where all he does is hand the ball off. And if he comes in while the 49ers are getting blown out, that's a recipe for a QB controversy that no team needs.

They're definitely going 17-0 so I'm obviously not worried about them getting blown out.

We could use him as a running back right now

This week will be a good barometer of how good Shanahan's running scheme really is. We'll see if he can literally take guys off the street and win.
