This throw is every bit as good of a throw that Jimmy made to Deebo against the Eagles....you know....the only noteworthy throw Jimmy has made in 2021.

I'm sure the Dolphins are perfectly happy they chose Tua over Herbert.

woof...it's funny to read some of his draft profiles. (also a lot of these negatives sound pretty familiar)

-cannon arm, tries to fit it in but that often get's him in trouble. He lacks touch and everything is a fast ball.
-release is a bit "winding" and not as compact as you'd like.
-sails a bunch of balls in the intermediate range.
-raw mentally as a passer
-under pressure his mechanics breakdown leading to throws off his back foot and bad footwork

That was a great throw by Jimmy no doubt.
1) Trey should start the rest of the season.

2) Shanahan needs to chill tf out with the QB runs before he gets him injured.

After rewatching all of Trey Lance plays against AZ, I have to say that I really like what I saw. I absolutely want to see more. He made some really nice throws in big time situations but our pass catchers did him no favors half the time.

There was a 4th and 5 play at 9:12 of the 3rd quarter. AZ brought the heat and Trey delivered a perfect strike to Sanu for the 1st down.

There was a 3rd and 3 play at 14:09 of the 2nd quarter. AZ defender had Aiyuk blanketed and Trey places the ball where only his guy can catch it. Very nice catch by Aiyuk as well.

4:04 2nd quarter 3rd and 11 Trey steps up into the pocket and delivers a strike to Sanu between 4 defenders. Sanu dropped it but it does not take away from the great play by Trey.

Just this game alone, I saw the ball spread out amongst all of our pass catchers a lot more. It wasn't just the Deebo show like in previous weeks. I honestly thought it was Shanahan who was just force feeding Deebo but now I am under the impression that it was just Jimmy favoring him this whole time.

I take back what I said about him being a one read and run QB. Most of those runs were QB draws that Kyle was calling.

I am fully on board with starting Trey the rest of the season. He is highly intelligent and our receivers need to get used to his passes. He also needs to break the huddle and get to the line sooner. Once those things happen, I think this offense begins to take off.

He played LB in high school. Guys can change positions and be successful. No question Lance isn't a refined QB. Everyone knew that when he was drafted. He was a gamble but sometimes you have to gamble if you want to hit it big. John and Kyle will own this if it doesn't work but if it does they'll win a lot of games.

Boise State offered him a scholarship to play QB for them, he said no because he already told NDSU that he would go there.

Josh Allen was a 2 star recruit and had one offer from Wyoming. Mahomes was a 3 star recruit and only had offers from Houston/Rice/Texas Tech. Russel Wilson was a 2 star recruit and had two offers ended up at NCS. His coach granted him his request to transfer in part because they were gonna go with Mike Glennon (and because he wanted to try playing baseball too). He finished out at Wisconsin.

Now they're 3 of the best QBs in the NFL....they weren't super stars that had years of QB coaching and camps. It's about the skill set and the intangibles to want to be great. All three of those dudes had that and everything we hear about Lance is the same.

They're also 3 of the most confident QBs in the league - bc of the road they traveled. All the big or semi big programs said no to them and they said FU and went to smaller colleges and got drafted in the NFL (two of them in 1st round). You think any kind of adversity they face in the NFL today can shake their confidence in their ability to play QB??? Nope - no chance in hell.

That's why I kind of lol @ ppl who think that playing Lance early can lead to him losing confidence in himself. Dude got drafted in top 3 after 1 year at NDSU when pretty much every the whole World told him - you're not QB. Dude was ready to sacrifice everything bc he believed he was a QB and disregard all the "experts" - I don't think anything can shake this dude's confidence.

WTF is he talking about lol? They literally ran the pistol offense and something similar to what Roman ran early on with Lamar. When they starter making Kap a in the pocket passer, that's when his play dipped a little. Still think Kap got a raw deal and could be at the very worst a backup in the league right now.

It really makes no sense to continue with Jimmy. Get Lance ready asap. I think he can win 4 of the next 6 games and the two tougher games are at home against Cards and Rams. Those will be tough but I think he has just as much a chance to beat those teams as Jimmy.

Also think we are gonna see considerable improvement over the next 4-5 weeks if he is getting all the snaps in the game and in practice. I think we have a real shot at the playoffs with Lance this year - but even if we don't - we're building for 2022 at the same time. It's a win win situation.

agreed, they had/have chips on their shoulders...they didn't have s**t given to them. SF players talk about how confident he is which was shocking to most of them based on where he was from and his age. People need to let the kid develop and relax. Better days are ahead.

Also I forgot to add Justin Herbert too...3 star recruit received no scholarship offers from major college programs. Northern Arizona, Portland State, and Montana State extended offers before Nevada and Oregon followed up with his only FBS offers. He was from Eugene and grew up a massive Duck fan, they didn't even recruit him early.
