Like I said, the throws to the outside are gifted. He can't stare them down like that in the NFL though.

The throw in this clip is showing arm strength, that's the point of it....it hasn't nothing to do with "staring down" a WR.

Damn I feel old.

Good god, I remember watching the 2000 draft when Brady got picked, and we took GIO "f**king" CARMAZZI, proves even Bill Walsh can make mistakes. Then in 2005 passing on Rodgers for Alex Smith, who I love, but Rodgers is a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. And yes I feel old, 36, will be 37 on July 12th.

most of Lances highlights that are being criticized are more than a year old from when he was 19. he's been working non-stop with QB gurus for over a year now. we should definitely see some improvements in his play because of that.

Agreed...I just don't see him failing with Kyle & this roster. He's wired right and has all the skill sets you want...just needs reps and time.

Yes he can stare in that situation.

With 2 WRs in the area, it all depends on the coverage. Like in this case. Field Safety is in the center and Boundary Safety is outside the top hash. 99% cover 3 or cover 4 presnap. Post snap, FS stayed in center so 100% cover 3 = Digs/Drags/Clearouts.

Now the DB on that side must honor the clear route and the LB/slot CB is under covering the flat. He can stare in that direction because there are two WRs.

Being able to understand the defense pre snap is gold. That's why Brady stares a lot at receivers because he already knows the coverage. If the CB sits on that, then Lance throws the deep route.

Lance have good shape on his ball.

yeah i tend to agree with that. this was the absolute best landing spot for Lance. for any of the top 5 QBs for that matter. it's very rare that a top QB in a draft class ends up on team as talented and well coached as SF.

Yeah. Any of the top 5 will have success in SF. How high the ceiling for each one will be is the unknown.

If you believe that you don't know football. This kid is fundamentally sound as a pocket QB. He just happens to have jets at the bottom of his legs that make him exceptional when combined with his 6'4", 224 lb frame. With his speed and power he can quickly discourage some DBs from trying to stop him.

He really isn't.

The Macavoy? Interview talked about how Lance has not had formal QB mentoring/training until recently ( late 2020 early 2021)

He made it a point to talk about how Lance has gotten along on sheer physical skill and memory retention.

Lance was not drafted because of what he has done at the college level, he was drafted for a very rare physical skill set and an amazing brain.

I went from somewhat anti Lance to highly pro Lance based on that interview.

I think Lance is going to be amazing, but he looked horrific at times in college. There is no reason to sugar coat that, we know he did not have the coaching he needed at the college level.

What people are saying about Lance is no different then what you could say about Steve Young at Tampa.

Who cares what Lance was, 49ers Lance has the tool and the support/coaching to be an all time 49er great QB.

It's going to be a fun decade.
