I mean I didn't want Flacco, gross. That said Flacco for $5 bucks or Jimmy at $27M.

Is Jimmy really playing that much better to justify the cap difference? s**t give me minshew for a conditional 2022 6th rd pick. He has two yrs left on his deal and really isn't that bad at all.

20 starts with the s**tty Jags he completed 63% of his balls, threw for 5,600 yards 37/11 TD/INT 93 OB rating

Oh hell yes I'd take Minshew in a heartbeat. Dude is a better version of Baker Mayfield

Minshew would've been the way to go. That way you can also hold an open competition, Trey gets his reps, and if Minshew stinks it up, at least Trey comes in with a better grasp on the offense.

With that said, I won't pretend that I was on board with trading Jimmy in the offseason and going with a vet + Trey. I definitely argued with NY about that as well. Overall I didn't think this was a SB team (had us 10-7 in the PYWLwhatever thread) but I thought we could be very competitive and you never know what happens in the playoffs.

And with all the crap I've given Jimmy over the past year and a half, I still believed he can be good in this offense and was kinda hoping 2 years removed from his ACL he would return to that 2017 form. With all these weapons on offense, I figured there's no way he can suck...Ya injuries have played a part again, but he's been playing very poorly outside of the Lions game.

Now obviously I was wrong, and we definitely should've traded Jimmy and gone with a vet like Minshew. I doubt he would be doing any worse than Jimmy has...And at least you get Trey more ready, which should be the focus 100% going forward because I don't see us making the playoffs anymore.

Well you would hope Warner would turn into a leader on that defense. You would hope Jimmy would be your leader regardless of Lance or his future here....Alex Smith was that in KC.

Yeah I agree they overvalued the roster from the aspect that they that often injured players would play meaningful snaps. Is what it is now.

How can Jimmy be a locker room leader when everyone knows he's a lame duck? That'd be a lot to ask of him, assuming he was even willing to try. I'm not sure that he's interested in taking on that role anymore. He seems to have completely checked out once his money became guaranteed. He looks disinterested and unwilling to do anything but go through the motions. I doubt 2019 Jimmy would have missed any time from that calf "injury".

Over valuing the roster is something a lot of teams do when they have an easy schedule and everything falls into place like 2019. The excitement of the playoffs and SBs masks a lot of flaws. We've seen a lot of teams have a big year and get to the playoffs only to fall back into mediocrity. Your a team that really isn't complete yet but now you're going to have a winners schedule the next season and you're picking late in the draft. Then a couple of over achievers take the opportunity to cash in during free agency and leave creating holes that need to be filled. Suddenly you're back to not making the playoffs.

Probably lots of reasons. Some believe it's fear because he's been burnt by picks. One thing I've rarely seen offered as an explanation is the fact that he's been absolutely crushed almost every single year. He surely knows McGlinchey and the interior of the line is suspect on deep passes. It wouldn't surprise me if part of it is the fact that he's sick of getting injured.

I really wasn't for or against Jimmy being here...I understood all of it, my main point was you can not pay him what you're paying him. The team was not good enough to pay a avg often injured QB top 5 money in 2021. I think we all can agree with that now.

Everyone thought best case scenario and trading him for a million picks after the season... No one was really being logical about it and realizing there was never a real market for him and he was more than likely gonna be cut after this season. Fans value their own players more than the rest of the league does.

Whatever now...they made their bed with Jimmy. He's gonna be the starter until we're completely out of the playoffs, then what Kyle is gonna toss Lance out there with a bunch of guys that know they're out of it? great.

It better not be more than one week. Idc what happens after this game, Lance needs to start. Especially because of your last sentence.

I was high on Jimmy in '17, like the rest of the goddamn sheep. I have since dumped him - since the Super Bowl.
