That's not true, SanDiego - all the other rookies with the exception of Mac are playing like s**t. Don't start making stuff up to prove your point.
The point is they are playing, when will Lance start playing, next year? Let's see now, he doesn't play this year, he didn't play last year so he will be going into year three without playing. Also keep in mind the level of competition he went up against in college, not Division 1. How many fans on the Zone have seen him play a full college game, were they even televised? I need something tangible, not talks of speculation and high ceilings.
So far he's 25/48 354 yards.....4TDs (3 passing, 1 rushing) 1int....has ran for 133 yards.
In College he was good at protecting the ball.
At the NFL level
48 pass attempts and he only has 1int. And he has not fumbled the ball in 48 pass attempts, or 27 rush attempts.
Not bad for a Rookie who hasn't played in a while.
But apparently he's a bust already
Going to have to put up with it, until he grabs the reigns and starts making a name for himself.
Yep, it's a process that requires patience to let it play out. With coaching and development Trey will be a superstar in the future that will bare no resemblance to what he's like now
Yeah.

Speaking of the Jets and how people want to put Trey in the same scenario and watch him sink or swim instead of letting him learn. Jets fans have already turned on Wilson and a certain group of 49ers would do the same to Trey if he struggled and didn't produce fantasy stats. If anything sitting gives him the opportunity to learn how mean and ruthless fans are. And how quickly they will turn on a player.

This is 90% of the reason I dont want him to start this year. I just don't think a rookie should have to deal with the unrealistic expectations of fans if they don't have to. Next year, fine. He'll have had a full circuit as an NFL QB and its sink or swim time. But I've already seen the nitpicking of Lance's preseason games and the one start vs AZ. Theres just no way he can realistically meet fan expectation. He's just too raw to be able to do it.

It's odd. I'm honestly happy about it. Cause I'm a make these teams run me my coins. Every single coin.

Hah, interesting, but who is their QB coach? Isn't that a punch in the gut?

I agree - let the rook sit and learn. Mentally and physically he'll be ready next year.

You can't take the heat don't be an NFL qb. This is a big boys game. You're getting paid millions. No time for mama and a baby bottle.Letting him sit to protect him mentally? What we don't him triggered? Players are soft.

Mentally sharper after learning the entire playbook. Physically he won't have any lingering injuries.

Thats fine, but prior posts insinuated that he should be protected from fan expectation.

What is this supposed to prove? Lance has APPEARED in 4 games but he has only started one. Everyone else on this list, except Fields, has been the day one starter for their team which means they will all have had more plays and more pass attempts. Talk about apples and oranges. There isn't anything that is comparable between Lance and the others in those numbers. Compare all of the stats between the players for the same number of plays to start the careers and it might be slightly more meaningful but not by much since again, outside of the Cardinals game Lance has only been in on a situational basis which is very different from being a starter. I have no doubt that Lance's day will come and then these kind of comparisons might have some value but right now it seems kind of pointless.

Saying he hasn't shown anything in half a season and the other rookies look better is a disingenuous statement though.
Kyle was never gonna play Lance this yr, he's maintained that thought process since day one...so what's the point in SanDiego's comment? There's not reason to say that when we all know what the plan is right or wrong.

Yeah this thread has gone off the rails.
I want to see Lance, especially if we drop out of the playoff race, but I have concluded that Kyle doesn't think he is ready and doesn't want to ruin his development. That's requesting a ton of faith in Kyle from us fans, but what choice do we have.

That kind of thinking could apply to a lot of QBs that became great. Montana didn't play much in his first year. Mahomes sat on the bench. Elway played but struggled badly. I don't see how anyone can judge any player, let alone a QB when he's barely played. I recall a lot of fans on this forum saying how tough it was to learn all the intricacies of Kyle's system when Jimmy first came here. Even though he had 3 years in NE his fans kept saying wait until he gets more experience and learns the system. Now for some reason they're disappointed in a guy that played one college game in 2020 because he's not lighting up the NFL.
