Jones does not play how Joe played. You're gonna talk about people not watching Joe and say this? LMAO. Joe was NIMBLE. He was fast for the position. He threw with better ball placement and more beautiful spirals. I mean, about all they have in common is that they were good in the pocket.
EDIT -- like for real? Jones isn't doing this, bro:
I never said Mac was similar to montana. I would NEVER compare Mac to Joe. My post was about how people were ripping the greatest niner in history just because of his preference. Joe, to me, is the greatest ever, and when he speaks, I listen. Whatever the subject is.
I was responding to the notion that Jones plays like Montana. He doesn't. Montana played like the perfect QB: nimble enough to dust defensive linemen, beautiful ball placement, enough arm strength to make every single throw, perfect play against pressure, and so on.
And yeah, I'll agree that Montana is the true GOAT. If he played in this era, he'd definitely be considered superior to Brady.
But Jones doesn't play like Montana played. He's less mobile and elusive. Also not as good of a thrower.
This is a Hall of Fame level example of a complete lack of reading comprehension. Jose was saying that you can't rip Montana because of the way he (Montana) played the game. You read this as you can't rip Montana because he plays like Mac Jones apparently. You then proceeded to demolish the argument that Jones is comparable to Montana. Only problem is no one made this argument except for you in your own head lol.
Correct me if I am wrong here Jose.
PS I like the gif total classic btw
I will correct you, because there's something you missed: the inherent ambiguity of the English language.
"Can't rip anyone who played the game the way he played."
In the context, that can mean at least two different things:
(1) As Jose has argued (and you), that ripping on JOE MONTANA for anything, including picking Jones, is unjustifiable.
(2) The way I read it, which is, you can't rip on JONES for playing the way (in college) MONTANA did, prior to Montana saying Jones was the one he would have picked.
Now, you can say that because the first "play" was past-tense that it indicates he's talking about someone retired, but because we're talking about rookies and choosing them prior to draft, it's reasonable to assume he might be referring to how that player played in college prior to Montana evaluating them.
So yeah, English language is what I'm blaming that on. Regardless, based on Jose's response he meant number (1), so the point is moot. In which case enjoy the badass gif.
