Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance Thread

The best thing Trey can learn from Jimmy is that you're only as good as your last game or your last season. Jimmy was picked in the 2nd round as a possible replacement for Brady and we know how that turned out. Trey is supposed to be Jimmy's replacement and probably will be, but he still needs to prove himself. Then when he becomes the starter he has to keep producing because in the NFL there's always someone after your job. It's not like college where you redshirt and get another year of eligibility if you get hurt.

The "Kyle wanted Mac Jones theory the whole time but caved to fan pressure" is such a strange theory that would require literally sub-BOB level of competence from just about every single person in our organization to be true.

So what's more likely that or the media pushed the 5th rated QB by literally everybody on us to generate clicks?

If you actually listen to the press conferences, you'll hear Kyle mention not wanting to color the opinions of the rest of the staff by knowing who he liked. I remember you from the Draft War Rooms threads and you hated Lance all along though, so even when Lynch and Kyle literally SAY exactly what happened, you're still not going to believe it. Nothing can pierce that concrete bias you're still clinging to.

Or they were discussing the strengths and weaknesses or each prospect but avoided explicitly stating who their favorite prospect was until decision time to avoid bias.

But it's much more likely that they are a bunch of buffoons who decided to pass on somebody the believed was the better prospect because it would upset some people on twitter.

It's all about ticket sales and merchandise revenue. The sexier pick and fan favorite will get that for you.

Yes I believe they traded up for Jones initially. Adam Shefter doesn't come out and say with complete confidence "It'll be Jones." Yes, it was Jones who they traded for because Kyle and Mike Shanahan really like him. Then when the backlash from fans and media were coming from all sides, Lynch and company tried to convince Kyle to change his mind to Lance. I don't dislike Lance. I just think if you are going trade up to #3 and give up several number ones, the guy better be ready to start day 1, which isn't the case for Lance. He is an extremely risky project. Yeah, he will probably sit a year and learn in 2021. 2022 he may start if he pans out, and that will be a another year of major growing pains since he will not have played QB for over two years.
