What does Trey look like? He can't even learn the playbook in half a season. He can't start. He doesn't even play. Kyle doesn't even trust him on gadget plays anymore. Like 3rd and 1 and goal line.

From all reports - Trey has learned the whole playbook, already.

This was my problem with Trey. Supposedly he was this football savant who despite his experience would be pro ready. In the little time he has had, he looked skittish and had no idea what was happening in front of him.

He has absolutely no idea what is going on. We traded 25 picks for him. Plus 10 1st rounders.

If you think Trey was drafted to start year 1 you're going to be let down. You have to remember that Trey didn't even play much football in the full year prior to the draft. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the youngest and least experienced QB drafted in the 1st round will take a bit longer to start. What I will say though is I've seen flashes of what can be a dominant Deshaun Watson/Josh Allen combo QB and I still would draft him ahead of Mac Jones. Not all great QBs start right away. Pat Mahomes and Rodgers are probably the 2 best QBs in the league and they both didn't play right away.

Let's also not forget that all the other 1st round QBs had nothing but duds ahead of them on the depth chart so it's not a surprise they are starting. As much as we say about Jimmy G he's better than any QB on the Jets, Jaguars, Pats, Bears, 49ers.

One thing thats impressed me about Trey is his accuracy on the move. The next step for Trey is anticipating the defensive coverages, seeing the windows, and throwing accordingly. Unfortunately that takes time and lots of reps.

Trey never said he was a football savant though.

No, but the scouts (who are always right) did, and ShanaLynch insinuated it as well.

Trey Lance if he develops has the athleticism of Fields and the mental game of Jones

Trey is a film junkie and there are a ton of interviews where people said they were blown away by the football IQ after.
I see the dumb s**t takes in here are still hot and heavy lol

lol

Absolutely their seed. Hilarious.must be a better processor in JimAlex GaroppoSmith's genetics, caus he got it. Dudes arm is pathetic though. A leaking pop gun. A really good system qb like what their running. Going to have to speed up his pocket awareness clock. Not athletic enough to squeeze out of anything. 5-15 yard short throw qb. Rainbow passes to 20-25. Punts beyond 30.😆😆😆

Yeah. But I feel like that's said about every quarterback after the draft. You can watch all the film in the world but if you can't apply it, it doesn't matter.

More often than not this comes down to intangibles. I know Fields has them, I know Mac has them... but does Trey? How does he react in a big moment? Can he keep his composure?

Fields' resume is unimpeachable in this category, and Mac proved he could start at THE program and control the offense effortlessly and the ease and joy that he plays with shows his confidence.

Trey looks nervous. We will see.

Hang in there, Trey - we're going to need you this year.

Hopefully not. Remember the 2021 Prime Directive: if Jimmy is starting, it means the 49ers are winning. And if Trey remains on the bench and isn't even given gadget plays, it means the run game is so dominant there is no need to put Trey out there at all.

Basically, the less Trey plays, the more dominant our team is being. And for 2021, that's a good thing. Perhaps not so much for 2022, but he's still getting all the reps against the number 1 defense in practice.

Any chance the two of you drive around in a car that looks like a dog?
