Yeah, but i also remember how many thot, self included, we were fixed at QB with Mullie who had put in a couple relief appearances and did well. But as a starter, we got our balloon busted re: Mullie and by yrs end it was obvious our first pick in draft had to be a Qb. Whether we picked at the right slot or not , or whether who we picked is the right one,, we won't know for perhaps another season or so. For our sakes, i hope he IS the one, because we bet the farm on him.

I may be wrong, and I OFTEN AM, but I think there are only two ways that super-rookie Trey Lance sees the field this weekend other than from the sideline.
1. Jimmy Garappolo gets hurt. Knowing Jimmy's injury history, this is entirely possible.
2. The 49ers score 42 unanswered points. At which point you get to see Trey during the 4th quarter. But he only gets to hand off to running back X.
Kyle sprinkled in Lance inside the red zone against the Lions, no reason he won't do that against the Jags. Don't think anyone talking about Lance starting over Jimmy against the Jags.
I think that he wants to, but is afraid, either of Trey getting injured, or of destabilising the momentum we have gathered or of bringing back the circus to start Trey.
Kyle has his reasons for rolling with Jimmy, and it's fine for us to disagree or debate those, but I really don't think Trey's performance has had much bearing on the situation.
Very good point. I never thought of it from that angle.

Listen, as long as Jimmy G is able to stand in the pocket, he is going to win games. Can't win games on your back. There aren't many Cool Joes (probably none) in the NFL who can take an a$$ kickin' and keep on tickin' the way Joe did (and don't say Brady, plenty of stories about him folding under pressure). And as far as Trey "Major" Lance, he will sit because..."Kyle will make him wait".

But there are players that can negotiate bad blocking because of their athleticism.... Most of the QBs that can do that with success are considered elite QBs in this league. That is why we drafted trey

He got MORE accurate, son. His rookie completion percentage was 52.8. His second season was 58.8. His third season was 69.2. Is that easy enough for you to understand? I don't know how much more remedial I can make it.
EDIT -- for some reason I thought you were actually responding to me and not emphasizing my post. So this actually is directed to SD. LMAO.
I was like wut? Lol
Oh great, the two loudest anti-Jimmy, pro-Stafford posters are going after each other now.
We better win this weekend! LOL
That one dude is already ready to call him a top 10 qb in two years without even seeing him play two professional games.
and they wonder why
It's a projection. In 2017 I thought Jimmy would keep progressing too. But he didn't even progress fast enough to stay ahead of defenses who were scheming for him. He's made progress the last few weeks though.

That was just about the time kyle made JG into a PA QB, and 4 yrs later realized JG is a helluva lot better in shotgun than under center. Also he has put 3 fairly good games together and is playing better each of last 3 weeks. Last week was kind of a reminder of the guy we traded for in 2017.

5GS pointed out on another thread that the 49ers now have two legit receivers that have worked with Jimmy for 1+ years (Deebo and Aiyuk) and that makes a difference with regards to non-play action passing plays, due to the synchronicity and timing and chemistry of all three (Jimmy, Deebo, Aiyuk). I think both Deebo and Aiyuk have been relatively injury free too (same with Jimmy - to a certain extent) and that also helps too. 5GS pointed out also the draft misfires of Hurd and Pettis retarding the passing game to a certain extent these past couple of years.

A good point. Poor WR selection, not only screws up that familiarity between JG and Deebo/ Aiyuk, it makes the QB/WR familiarity have to reset every yr when you draft/trade/ fail to resign WRs we should have kept…and that just makes the Hurd, Joe Williams, Pettis, McKinnon signings all that much worse. It is a double dip hit.

I saw the Greg Papa interview with Kyle this morning on youtube, and the interesting thing that i came away from that is how Deebo is one heck of a RB in Kyle's scheme (never mind that he's a WR). I think that allowed Kyle to move on from Hurd.
Next years draft, I'd like two things -- either a Burner like Tyreek Hill to develop behind Deebo and Aiyuk -- for Trey to throw to once Trey is handed the keys to the 49er Nation. *OR* another Deebo/Aiyuk - guys that can *both* run and catch passes. Either one of these would help Trey become one hell of an effective 3rd down QB, I think.

His scramble clinched the win and let us kneel
Trey should have been inserted 1 series earlier to run actual plays but the team won....that is priority this season

Look at Justin Fields and how garbage he was then gets injured.
Look at Zak Wilson... Injured and fans like ours calling for his head already.
Is this really the position some of you want to put Trey in?
