Why bother? Just run the ball a few times, get a first down, and let's get out of here and on to Minnesota. No need to risk injury to anyone.

Game reps are game reps, but not like the Jaguars were going to show him any hugely meaningful look for him to learn from.
Shanahan did the right thing by benching Lance this year. Better for Jimmy better for team chemistry, and it sends a message to the entire team that Jimmy is the leader.
Would it be too much to.....gasp......let him throw a pass?

Didn't he start in the Arizona game - and threw some passes? I think that's plenty for a backup rookie QB this season. Hopefully he'll get more chances like he did in the Jags game, but that start against Arizona gives him a ton of stuff to work on this offseason.

Is it called benching? I wouldn't say benching but Jimmy is the experienced vet that yes is better for the flow of things and was their QB 1 from day one. I just think it was the plan from day one to have Trey sit this year and learn. I also though feel if they were given a solid offer on Jimmy they would've taken it, especially after moving so many picks away.

Look at Justin Fields and how garbage he was then gets injured.

Look at Zak Wilson... Injured and fans like ours calling for his head already.

Is this really the position some of you want to put Trey in?

You do realize this is football, right? Sometimes people get injured. Yeah, anytime you put a player out he risks injury. That's the entire point behind pulling the starting quarterback out when the team is up as much as they were.

At this point, it's a red shirt year. Having gone through this with Alex smith, and watching all of the other young starters get beaten down, I am totally fine with this.

I put that more on a coaching decision. At least have him throw a 5 yard pass or something. In a blowout win. Get some practice and some reps in.

Why get reps in when he sucks, is a bust, and should probably retire?

It's a projection. In 2017 I thought Jimmy would keep progressing too. But he didn't even progress fast enough to stay ahead of defenses who were scheming for him. He's made progress the last few weeks though.

That was just about the time kyle made JG into a PA QB, and 4 yrs later realized JG is a helluva lot better in shotgun than under center. Also he has put 3 fairly good games together and is playing better each of last 3 weeks. Last week was kind of a reminder of the guy we traded for in 2017.

Jimmy was good against Detroit too, running a PA offense. Once again fans are latching on to an oversimplification, but missing the easiest oversimplification of them all: he got better.

What's giving him a pass to throw going to accomplish?

Man you are a real Treytor lol. You cannot bench someone who isn't a starter. Trey only started because Jimmy was hurt. If you're wondering why he's not getting on field reps, it's because the offense hasn't needed it and they've found a good way to get him practice reps in our scheme (by converting other teams' plays into our terminology while he runs the scout team against our number one defense).

He SHOULD have been given a five yard throw on the play Jimmy got hit on, because not one starter should have been in the game then.

Better for Trey just to hand off and then get out of there.
