I put that more on a coaching decision. At least have him throw a 5 yard pass or something. In a blowout win. Get some practice and some reps in.

What's giving him a pass to throw going to accomplish?
He SHOULD have been given a five yard throw on the play Jimmy got hit on, because not one starter should have been in the game then.

Better for Trey just to hand off and then get out of there.

Well yeah, but either way Jimmy shouldn't have been in a position to get hit.

It's a projection. In 2017 I thought Jimmy would keep progressing too. But he didn't even progress fast enough to stay ahead of defenses who were scheming for him. He's made progress the last few weeks though.

That was just about the time kyle made JG into a PA QB, and 4 yrs later realized JG is a helluva lot better in shotgun than under center. Also he has put 3 fairly good games together and is playing better each of last 3 weeks. Last week was kind of a reminder of the guy we traded for in 2017.

Jimmy was good against Detroit too, running a PA offense. Once again fans are latching on to an oversimplification, but missing the easiest oversimplification of them all: he got better.

Very similarly to the 2019 season. He wasn't great in his first 5 starts, and then he turned it on the rest of the way. Interestingly enough, it also came after a crazy weather game (@ WFT).
Well how many guys are playing all out, or are they preserving themselves for another day?Something lit a fire under their arses recently.Unfortunately self preservation has no place in the NFL except for the guys who are so talented they can phone it in and still maintain a "good enough" style of play to consistently win.Rodgers comes to mind.I believe Mullins is a guy who gives it all, he is simply an unfinished story as of yet.I believe Trey will be as talented as Rodgers yet he seems to want to win as badly as BDN.I hope, anyway.

Yeah, but i also remember how many thot, self included, we were fixed at QB with Mullie who had put in a couple relief appearances and did well. But as a starter, we got our balloon busted re: Mullie and by yrs end it was obvious our first pick in draft had to be a Qb. Whether we picked at the right slot or not , or whether who we picked is the right one,, we won't know for perhaps another season or so. For our sakes, i hope he IS the one, because we bet the farm on him.

Could just be complacency. Being satiated with previous accomplishments and delaying putting your nose to the grind.

The ultimate pessimist would say it's just been fortunate machups. Where I'd dispute this is that for Jimmy, even fortunate matchups involved boneheaded decisions, which have largely been eliminated the last few games. And previously in the year, the defense played outstanding for long stretches, but were let down by the offense.

So, one could argue it's been a combination of complacency and different parts of the team being willing to grind at different times, then losing morale as one side isn't focused.

The last few games, all sides have been focused. We'll see how long it lasts.

Would it be too much to.....gasp......let him throw a pass?

I put that more on a coaching decision. At least have him throw a 5 yard pass or something. In a blowout win. Get some practice and some reps in.

What's giving him a pass to throw going to accomplish?

Practice reps.

the want to see trey play is not the priority at all for this team right now in my opinion
cSanDiego wants to see 1 pass so badly so he can constantly cry over how imperfect the one pass was for 3 weeks.

If he can't make even 1 pass without getting hurt he was a wasted pick. I certainly wouldn't trade 25 picks for that and 10 first rounders.

He should be able to throw an accurate ball and a spiral if you give up this much draft capital.

So just to be clear… your two takes are:

1. Trey Lance < Mac Jones because Mac Jones is starting.

2. Trey Lance cannot throw a accurate ball or a spiral.

Is that correct?
The quiet assassin. His time will come.
