here me out! We have NO clue how good he is going to be and the team has not once shown they trust him? So what was the f**king point here?

This is the master of panic reaction. Just relax and meditate on it. KS and JL know more football in one fingernail than the collective wisdom of NT. They staked their jobs on this young man. We have a 2014 Honda Civic we are still driving with a for sale sign in the back window and a 2021 Mercedes S Class in the garage.

Life is good

I came on this board today not to be attacked so viciously...I drive a honda civic but I do like the analogy lol..

You probably have a tremendous W-L record in that thing congrats my man

It's pretty simple if you understand how the nfl works. They wanted to move on from Garoppalo. Last year's qb class was excellent and it was an opportunity to get a possible franchise qb. This year's class is garbage and the jump from the late 20's to move up would have cost a lot more than what they gave up. Don't kid yourself if Lance was in this class he would be the number one pick. It's the right move considering the available talent at the time and near future.

jimmy critique isn't "hate", that's what 99% of the Jimmy homers want you to think it is in his thread lol.

Thanks for the explanation. Now, scroll back through and discern the criticism from the blind hate. Pretty easy to identify 🤣🤣🤣

I honestly don't have a strong feeling one way or the other with Trey. On one hand he's very athletic with a strong arm. On the other he's really inexperienced. I'm hoping he turns out to be what we're all hoping for. At this point I just have to trust Kyle. I hear Trey is looking better all the time but it's still not in a game. We'll see.

Where have you heard this? Been trying to see how he's developing but its been pretty quiet from the niners FO...

I think Trevor is in trouble. Even in spite of being on s**t teams, rookie QBs who end up being good at least show something their rookie years. Lawrence hasnt flashed at all. Time will tell, but I wouldnt count on him being any good.

He got dealt the Alex Smith hand. Baalke is even involved. Obviously Smith wasn't a generational prospect, but both were thrown on to dumpster fire organizations with a clueless coach and a terrible roster.

Just watch, Lance will be the lucky one who went to a good team that had the luxury of allowing him to develop before being thrown to the wolves. Lawrence, Wilson, and Fields are all in trouble because of their unstable situations.

Sure. I dont disagree with any of that. But my point is that every rookie QB that turned out to be really good at least flashed during their rookie years. Lawrence hasnt in the slightest bit. That would concern me, if I was a Jaguars fan.

The accuracy is nowhere in that category. I don't think the arm strength is either. Although it's strong. It's not that strong.

Yeah, i mean Checkdown Alex never made it to the super bowl as a starting QB, and he got 2 seconds. We'll see how it goes. Just freeing up 27 million in cap space is already a significant value, in addition to any draft capital we recover.

#1 Overall originally. You guys seeing a theme here yet in these comparisons? lol.

A draftpick's 2nd team is always super-curious about what or how things would be different if they took that same "talent" and tried to do something with it. 3rd teams,...not-so-much.

Damn you went way out on that limb huh?

If jimmy finishes out the season consistent with how he's played so far, we'll get more for him than many of you think. Not because he's awesome, but because a) not alot of good draft prospects and b) a few teams that are legitimately a decent QB away from contending.

we shall see

Not at all. Trade alot of time involves risk involving possible upside. Not the easiest sell with Jimmy outside of a Shanahan-type offense.
If Trey could be anywhere near what Herbert is someday. Wow! His receivers don't seem to drop his absolute rockets either.
