A reciever who couldnt stretch the field? A combination of all of that? It was a staple of the bill walsh offense that has completely disappeared.

Just not Jimmy's game. Like I've said a lot in here….his quick release is awesome and great on those short routes. It's all about his torque/upper body not really his footwork….when you see him take those shots downfield (not always) but his footwork is real bad. He's still trying to throw with that torque/up half stuff, like his quick throws…his arm talent isn't elite enough to do that downfield, so he needs those proper mechanics to get the ball downfield accurately.

Your right about his torque - he's all upper body.

I think Trey has the elite arm to do it either way - the Jimmy Torque way or the correctly mechanical way.

Either way, I'm excited about 2022.

P.S. to NY85, Yeah, the two 2021 Seadderall season Games were lost *both* by 7 points. The first one 28-21, the next one 30-23. The first seadderall game when Trey played one half, 49ers lost by 7. The second game when Jimmy played 100% they lost by 7. That is another Data Point that points to Trey's rediness and ability. The fact that Trey played one half when he was a stone cold rookie coming into his first *real* regular season game ever in his rookie career and played to the equivalent of Jimmy - if you consider the same margin of loss in both games.
Trey is going to be great because of his natural abilities and strong work ethic. I'm convinced we beat lambs if he just used him on a few plays in the game (in particular 2&1 or 3rd&2).

Other rookie QBs looked awful and you could easily argue none of them were ready for the NFL and could definitely have done better if they sat 1 year.

Lol now do QB's in 49ers history the last 10 years who only scored 10 points like Trey. Jimmy did it once his entire career and won, Trey in 2.5 games has done it too.
kid has massive potential. Can't deny that.

Nah I just called a spade a spade. I don't have to kiss is ass no matter what, like you do…he's an avg startable QB in the NFL. He's better than what 11 or so teams are trotting out. SF wanted upside and a chance to have a FQB at some pt. So sorry they hurt your feelings going that route…like I said you can still rock the Jimmy jersey. I got no hard feelings for what he accomplished here. I would like more consistency and upside at the position. It's really not that deep and you don't have to take it so personal.

lol imagine thinking what someone said in a fan forum would decide a players worth to the league

Why take stuff out of context like that The hate for Lance with some of you is ridiculous

My time with him, it was exciting," McDaniel said. "My time with him, you talk about a dude that was willing and able and wanting to be great, that he himself knew there was a lot of stuff to work on. … You've got to remember, these draft picks coming out, especially the ones that most of the season gets canceled, you're just preparing for a pro day, nonstop, for a calendar year."

I'm not sure, my time in San Francisco, I wouldn't even know what to say in terms of that judgment of it. He started football games and won football games last year, so if the 49ers choose to have him as their starting quarterback, I'm confident that's with good reason, knowing Kyle and John Lynch

The other response was just talking about both scenarios.

But that doesn't fit the narrative. Jose already said he's just being an ass over all of it. At least he admits why he's going this route.

Kid has massive potential and seems to have a level head on his shoulders combined with very good work ethic.

Can't really ask for more from any draft pick.

And is about to get all QB1 snaps for a full offseason.

Yeah with that in mind it's kinda simple.

He will either have it, or he won't. That's the thing you can't measure. Does it all just click etc.

One thing I hope to see is the accurate deep ball in stride with touch. Montana excelled at it. Steve Young was great at it. Kap sucked at it, Jimmy sucked as well. It's something I love to see. Russell Wilson is a guy today who excels at it. As much as some of you hate him, mac has it as well. I really miss it and hope to see trey develop that pass.

Mac has a pretty decent touch pass yes but listing him in that group is laughable.

Sure now do how many of them are 21 year old rookies who had 1 start in like 2 years before that particular game.

Yup, just has to live up to expectations or be an above average QB.
