The 49ers traded two 1sts and a 3rd. The 1st this season is 29th, which is essentially a 2nd. We just got the 3rd back for losing McDaniel. That means if we finish as a playoff contender next season, both 1sts we lost will have been late 1st round fliers. For a chance at a franchise QB, thats a no brainer. Stop acting like we destroyed our future for the Lance pick. We can get back into the 1st this year if we wanted.

Its hilarious that you, without any actual knowledge on QB's or scouting, are convinced that because he doesn't have a ton of college reps that he's automatically a bust.

Go back and watch the Texans game. If that was him with barely any snaps at QB in his life, I can't wait to see him with more reps.

This x 100000000

The draft picks we will give up are a 29th pick and easily another one in the 20's or 32nd pick. So worth it for a qb at his worst that can produce a s**tty 20 td 12 int season NOT counting:
All the rushing yards
All the rushing TDs
All the rushing first downs
All the plays he extends with his legs
All the throws deep and outside the numbers with possible Pass interference penalties or stress on a defense that has to cover more than the middle of the field.

We easily will have at the bare minimum a better qb and a healthier one too

Hello......Think McFly, Think

people really need to think before they downplay Trey when the truth is, if Trey plays like a top 15-20 qb we improve as a team and that's a SB right there

Good post, guapo - people need to get off Trey's back and just let the kid do his thing. I don't see any reason he can't be a top 15-20 quarterback. He will have the opportunity to prove a lot of people wrong.

He doesn't have to be awesome to out perform jimmy

People are bringing up Mahomes because their situations are so similar. Nobody should be expecting Mahomes like season because under Kyle Shanahan the 49ers will never pass the ball as much as KC did. Our defense should also be much better than what KC had that season. Hell that season was an outlier for Mahomes as well. He's actually gotten better but hasn't touched 40 TDs in a season let alone 50.

That's also what people claiming "he's not ready" seem to gloss over or just don't care to make stupid points.

49ers don't need Trey Lance to put up 5000 yards 50 TDs. They don't even need 4000 yards and 40 TDs, although obviously they'd gladly take either.

They were a couple of plays away from going and likely winning a SB with a QB who had 3800 yards and 20 TDs.

Trey doesn't need to carry the team. He just needs to make key plays as part of the offense and help the team win.

He is 100% ready to do that because he's got Kyle Shanahan as a coach and a very talented roster around him.

Go look at Russell Wilson's numbers when they won the SB or even when they went back and lost at the goal line the next year.

Trey will be ready to rock. It doesn't mean he's gonna be an instant all pro and that's just fine.

Jimmy is already better than Jimmy - he's a dual threat, with both his arm and his legs. Much more than Jimmy was.

Thanks Mayo In this offense I thought it would be common sense but some people need reminding

Good listen....Cosell knows his s**t. It wasn't all praise for lance, but there's a lot to like. He said he just gives you more than Jimmy (and he likes Jimmy). He said what he saw from the AZ game to the Texans game was night and day (in a good way). Talked about his hitch when he would drop his hip then come back up, this might be the reason he's not pin point accurate right now. That's something that can be fixed.

Cosell watches Bill's games every week and while he doesn't comp players. There's similarities.

He's the singular best football knowledge / talking head you can find.

He's on the money when he says Trey gives the 49ers more.
