UGH.

What about Mac Jones getting hammered again?

Strong arm.
Good character.
Everything else is still under construction.

Here's what Cosell wrote about him on his pre-draft analysis

Trey Lance

- another high level traits QB
- strong live arm, excellent athleticism, twitch and explosiveness to the way he plays both as throwing and moving
- gives an NFL team the option for designed run game(not quite Lamar Jackson, but we see the value of having that ability)
- can make second reaction plays both throwing and running
- has the athletic profile that fits the evolving mold of today's NFL QB
- the playmaking dimension will get NFL teams excited - live arm, easy delivery, can drive the football. He's got A LOT of traits.
- issue - level of competition and not playing this year(not his fault but... )

*likes him more than Fields

Here's what he said about him during the draft process

This was DJ during an early pre-draft breakdown of Lance (it's a bit over the top) but none the less he had a high value on Lance all the way through the draft process.

He actually got to sit down with him and take football which made him love him even more (DJ been in love with this kid for like a yr prior).

Nice post pretty much explains it. Unfortunately, it will be groundhogs day in here until the season. Especially with bummerfan. Nothing anyone can say will change someone's mind once they've made it up unfortunately. Trey will just have to prove it. So excited for the potential the kid brings
He need to watch Justin Herbert film.

Trey Lance TD %: 7.0

Justin Herbert TD %: 5.4

Is trolling really that fun to you?

He played a few plays on goal line situations. Easy TD'S. Skewing the statistics.

He didn't play large numbers of whole games. Plus Justin Herbert throws deep.

Now he's better than Mahomes and Herbert.

He's getting cockier now since Rashaad Penny finally a good season this year.

He did have a good year as he came back from his knee injury. In the 2nd half of the year when he was more healthy. Some huge numbers put up there.

Because I said that.

And the "few plays on goalline situations" was actually one. And if you remove that completely, his TD percentage is 6.6%....still better than Herbert's. So answer me....is trolling that fun to you?

If the word trolling is used in your argument, its not a very good one.
Honest evaluation of Trey Lance. As of right now.

Good

6'4" 225 lbs.

Reasonable fast.

Strong arm.

Bad

Not ready.

Doesn't know the play book.

Doesn't understand his reads.

Looks like a 4.6 guy. Not blazing or dynamic running.

Hesitant runner. Looks like he wants to curl up into a ball and hide when he sees a defender. A scared runner.

Lacks arm accuracy for this level.

Lacks ability to throw a consistent spiral. Bad at this level.

Leadership qualities unknown.

Lack of game experience in both College and the Pros.

Haha you would have hated Herbert in the draft

That's where he is at right now. I didn't say he doesn't have the chance for some future growth. He should be studying Justin Herbert film if he wants to be great. But that's pretty honestly where he is right NOW. It doesn't necessarily mean forever. He has a lot to improve.

Half of the "bad" are baseless assumptions.
