Maybe he would've hit that pass if he wasn't hurt.

Not sure about that since He had a tendency of missing open receivers.

Yeah like the one to Juszchyk he missed in the Titans game.

Go, Trey, go!
Warner said practicing against Trey made him a better player. Which got me thinking how much credit does Trey deserve for how good our defense was this season? Lost Verrett, Kinlaw,Dre and Ford for most of the season and lost others for parts of the season such as Eman and yet still had a top 5 defense. And those Mobile QB's didn't have the same success against us that they have in past seasons.
I kind of wonder if the 49ers told Joe Montana to say he heard Lance wasn't ready, or maybe had some players tell Joe that, because it plays right into their hands as far as making Garoppolo look less expendable.

Typically if players don't have anything nice to say about a teammate, they just say nothing. Too much positives have been said by teammates about Lance for there to be an elephant in the room about his development. Trent Williams doesn't go out of his way to call Lance a generational talent if he doesn't see it.

Lmfao. When Jimmy was QB the first excuse for why Jimmy didn't throw deep was, "who's gonna run deep? We don't have any burners"…and now it's… "we don't need another WR, we're fine with what we have". 🤣🤣

Who is saying that? It appears to be that the hype for Watson is that he's a unicorn at 6'4 and 4.36 speed.

Also short of a mental or physical problem his floor is torrey smith/sammy watkins/brandin cooks. But many are seeing/hoping for a mike evans or julio jones.

I wouldn't doubt any of this. The comments definitely got around to TL. He'll work harder to put away any doubts

All three of those guys are 6'1 or shorter. I don't think it compares. Floor would probably be a bit worst than DJ Chark. That's a more apt comparison, really. About the same build, about the same speed.

Want this guy on the 49ers so bad!
Watson has issues. He wont fight for jump balls, questionable hands, relies on being the fastest (which he wont be in the NFL).
He has some other issues that the mods probably would not like me to post in here.
Ok I have to revise this. Watson ran a 4.28 40 at the combine. He will be one of the fastest in the NFL.

Of course all these combine speed warriors, John Ross says hello.

I want him mostly for the rapport that he and Trey already have. Look at how well that worked with Burrow and Chase.

Would it be worth it to trade up to get him? Specially if they already have (as you said) that rapport and chemistry?

I'd like to see it. You want to do everything you possibly can to ensure Trey's success. Quite a lot riding on that.
I'm drooling over the possibility of a Tyreek Hill 2.0 kind of WR in Watson. Match Watson with Trey's howitzer and both of them can change games in an instant.

I'd cream my pants if we drafted Watson - got to move up, though.

Looks like Watson is going high in the draft. Might have to go to a lesser talented individual.

I think key to this offseason draft is what 49ers get for Jimmy. Depending on whether it's a 2nd or a conditional 2nd or a low first - I think that will determine whether there is a trade down strategy or a trade up strategy. I certainly wouldn't mind having Watson if we can get a conditional first for Jimmy.

Regardless of what we get for Jimmy i think the top 3 picks need to be EDGE CB and OL in no order

Good point. Watson may be a luxury specially if 49ers lose a lot of defensive line free agent players. OLine definitely needs to be bolstered with both Trent Williams and Alex Mack getting older and older every year. However, if they are able to retain DJ Jones and Key (gonna be hard I know) then maybe they can go Watson high in the draft and then OLine, and a Day two CB if they get a high round pick for Jimmy.
I agree that the 3 positions of need are OL, DB and edge in what ever order the best in each of those categories pops up. They aren't likely to have a chance at the top tier players at those positions but they still need to be addressed. A player like Watson would be tempting but that would still leave positions of need. The only way they could move up to get him would be a trade up using a 2nd and a 3rd.

Watson also played special teams and lined up in the backfield for sweeps. His speed got him around the corner for huge gains most of the time.
Not saying that translates to the NFL, but he does add value on returns.
