It looks like Trey isnt ready and going by how Jimmy is still here and wasn't traded to clear cap space to get a much needed Edge rusher, I say Jimmy is going to be our starter. Plus another reason why I said it is because Kyle also called 2 safe games with Trey. KS is eather a safe play caller or he just doesn't trust his qbs.

LET TREY SAUTE

WTF does that mean?

Unoriginal 49er fans having to copy Russel Wilson.

It's totally original notice the word cook is nowhere to be found. 100% original (and rhymes too)

Please God don't let this dumb saying stick.

If I am Trey Lance and Jimmy is brought back, I dont know that I would want to be a part of this organization. He was told he was the starting QB, and he is acting as if that is the case. Then because your incumbent starter has drawn ZERO interest from a single other NFL team, he comes back and is given his old job back? Yeah my faith in the organization is gone in that case.

If that's how Lance takes it then I wouldn't want him to be the QB for the 49ers. That's a spoiled kid mindset. How about get good and give the coaches no choice but to play you?

I am speaking out of frustration obviously. I know he probably wouldnt do that. I probably wouldnt either if it came down to it. But what message are you sending the kid that he is told he was given the keys to the team, and then they bring back the guy that not a single other team wanted and gave him back his old job? Thats a terrible way of installing confidence in your future QB.

And for the record, I truly believe that part of the reason Lance didnt play last year was to try to maximize Jimmy's trade value, not because he was markedly better than Lance (if at all).

If that's his mindset then he doesn't deserve to be a starter. Nothing is given in this league, if trey is the starter, he will outperform jimmy. From what I've seen from Trey so far, this will only make him work harder. He hasn't earned anything to frown about who's in the qb room.

There were countless reports from training camp last year that he looked to be the best QB on the team. For a league that nothing is given out in, its awfully easy to make the argument that Jimmy was given the starting job for various reasons.

Understood. It would look bad all around but no need for Lance to throw a hissy fit and not want to be a part of SF. Life is a lot harder than not being handed a job.

I don't think Kyle will bench him in favor of Jimmy if he does indeed excel in preseason and TC. Kyle said himself he was in contention to start before he got injured. The way the season flowed I have no doubt if we kept losing with Jimmy Trey would've been the guy for the rest of the season. But its hard switching qbs at the middle of a hot streak. The locker room loves Jimmy, but im sure they love winning more and if they feel like trey gives them the best chance to win then they're all in with him.

lol.
He should be working out right now with Justin Herbert. Not Zach Wilson. He could learn something and improve.
