But yeah, he can stand to really refine it, and he will.
But refining throwing motion is something QB's work on every offseason. So expect/hope it's tighter, and then he'll work on it every year.

I'm very excited to see how he looks Week 1. He's a grinder and is reportedly supposed to be a great learner... so am hoping to see a greatly improved Lance in Week 1.

Yeah, I don't see awful mechanics. It's a little elongated, but also not as bad as Kap. I think he can tighten it up a bit and work on his base, though.

But, whenever Lance is discussed outside of niner land, that is the first thing people mention. Like he is a broken QB that needs a complete overhaul.

Then you have Deebo and coaches emphasizing lance improve on his mechanics to become the elite quarterback everyone is expecting him to be. So, idk...

Im excited as you are to see what he's been cookin this whole time. Lance has had two and a half years to build himself up even more than what saw in 2019. I expect to see some excellence next year.

When did Deebo say he needed to improve his mechanics? I must have missed that. Not sure how much a wideout knows about mechanics.

It was in a video I watched a while back. He mentions the off-season being big for Lance. And mentioned improving his mechanics.

Cant find the video but found this article on it.

Samuel said he believes Lance must work diligently during the offseason to put himself in the best position to thrive in his first season as the starter. The 49ers are expected to trade veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason.

"With time comes greatness," Samuel said. "I feel like the more time he's able to put in, and get the mechanics and know what it takes to be a pro, I feel like he'll do a good job in this league."

What's up with his throwing mechanics? Is there any videos out there of him working on it? It seems like that has been the main goal this off-season, from what players and coaches have talked about.

He's had almost two and a half years to get things tightened up. IIRC he spent all of 2020 working on being a pro and improving his mechanics. Then had plenty of time in 2021 to continue this progress by being a back up. Now, he's been working with some QB gurus. That's a lot of time to improve.

Can't wait to see some improvement. I'm tired of seeing other fans clown his throwing motion. Even my family (not immediate) that are raiders or cowboy fans trash his throwing motion, talking about high throws and wobblers.
Cant even get excited around them when talking about Lance because they say he's not even an actual passing QB. Can't wait for him to prove them wrong.

So far that is true to any non homer. Just look at the situation objectively. It remains to be seen if that improves.

That doesn't sound like he thinks Trey needs to improve his throwing mechanics at all. Could probably take it any number of ways, but sounds more like he's talking about getting the routines it takes to be a pro. It wouldn't look very good for his top WR to criticize his throwing mechanics man.

Seems like you already had your mind made up before asking me for the link. lol

i watched the whole video a while back. Debo mentions Trey working on his mechanics in the off-season.

Article states that in his line

"Samuel said he believes Lance must work diligently during the offseason to put himself in the best position to thrive in his first season as the starter"

Then followed by this quote in the article.

"I feel like the more time he's able to put in, and get the mechanics and know what it takes to be a pro, I feel like he'll do a good job in this league."

he threw the mechanics mixed in there so it didn't come across as you say "criticism".
Or why even mention it all if it don't need work? Cmon man lol

im not going to go back and forth with you on what Deebo meant or not. He said it, it's there on video.

So we were told he put in time on his mechanics the entire 2020 non season. He was supposedly still working on mechanics all 2021 off season. Here we are in 2022 off season still talking about working on mechanics.

I'm ready for the Trey era to begin just not as overly optimistic as most on this board.

Maybe, like you mentioned, getting his base set more consistently will improve some of his overthrows.

His throwing motion doesn't come across as egregious to me but that's all I hear from opposing fans when discussing Lance. It's tiresome. Then we have our own players like Deebo or coaches talking about him working on that first in order to become what we all believe he can become...Am like what?? That's two and a half years to work on that. I don't see how much more he can improve on that this off-season. Hopefully, Tom House can work his magic.

Most fans don't know throwing mechanics and it's not worth debating it with them…Greg Panelli who runs a passing academy (bros with Eric Crocker) and has worked with Josh Allen for yrs, has no issue with his throwing motion. Same with JTO.

The base/footwork is what creates more consistency with accuracy. Those over throws are because he dips down then comes up off his drop. There's too much movement there. It's not all the time and imo when he was doing his pro-day you could see some real improvement. He just needs more reps and getting confident in his reads…we've seen good mechanics he just needs to get more confident/more reps.

That dip needs to be eliminated - he has it pretty bad.

if you knew what you were talking about and did your homework you would have seen improvement…I can't take anything football wise coming from you seriously. Sorry not trying to be an ass either

It's not always there, it's all about getting reps and being confident in your reads (so s**t doesn't breakdown)…more reps will improve everything. That's why playing football will help.

End of the day QBs are always working on their mechanics. Brady still does and he's the 🐐

There's a small group here that fit that's mold. I'm not a guy who blocks people, but should really take better care who I respond to. I'm all for intellectual conjecture, but when people are faced with undeniable facts and still refuse to face them it gets old.

Let's SEE him improve. SHOW me don't tell me. So far he hasn't shown the consistent ability to throw a spiral or an accurate ball.

They are hugely overly optimistic. He hasn't shown good mechanics so far. If you have to completely rework mechanics is it worth all that trade capital in the first place?

Patrick mahomes still today doesn't have good mechanics. I think the need to have good throwing mechanics is abit overrated. Some QB's might need it and others might not. I think the QB's that lack the arm talent need really good mechanics. But QB's like Mahomes and Allen don't really have that good of mechanics but it works for them because they go so much arm talent and athletic ability. Though it is still good to try and improve on it,I don't think it has to be perfect for someone like Trey.
