And Jimmy posted a 150 yard 1 INT avg in both their playoff wins this yr....there is no agenda. Literally everyone in here was on same page with moving on from Jimmy the past two months...now he's still lingering like a bad fart in here and we're back to pretending he was better than he was because why? Why couldn't Lance put up similar stats this past yr? Like I said he isn't replacing some HOF QB.

We all know Case Keenum isn't some amazing QB. That yr he was propped up by damn good Vikings team all the same. We have no idea if he couldn't have done it two yrs in a row because he was never given that chance....why should I assume Jimmy will take whatever team he plays for next to the SB/NFCC? You think he does that on say the Panthers next yr?

Last i checked, Jimmy was the qb of a team that went to the nfc championship game. So yes. Yes he did.

case keenum got the Vikings to a NFCC.

Off topic but yes Case Keenum is carried to the NFC championship if in the same position as Jimmy last year.

You see, this is something that Shanahan understood that fans who wanted trey to start Last uear never could comprehend. A veteran qb is able to provide certain characteristics necessary to go far in an NFL season. This is why Shanahan started Jimmy last year, and supported with the fact that only 3 rookie qbs ever took their team to a conference championship.

Seems Obvious

Yes it is. Yet my original point was that Trey wasn't ready last year, which posters are trying to argue

A rookie, with less than 300 passing attempts in colege, who missed his last year, who played at north dakota state, was ready to lead an NFL team to the superbowl, when no other rookie in the history of the nfl has done it.

Time frame of when you say he wasn't ready matters also. To start the season you have got to be kidding. No way he was ready. By time Playoffs rolled around he would have been carried just as far.

There is a reason he is compared to garbage QBs. And not top 8 QBs like some think he is.
When the Niners drafted Trey everyone knew he wasn't ready to start but nearly all agreed he had the highest upside of any of the QBs in the class. He didn't get a lot of chances to show wha the can do but in his 2 appearances he showed the athleticism and he showed his weaknesses.

Fast forward to 2022 and now some people are worried that he's not ready to start like that's a big surprise. How could he be? He wasn't given enough snaps especially for a guy who didn't play his senior year in college. So now they'll start the season with a 2nd year player who still is essentially a rookie. We have to expect a lot of growing pains.

Some say they should keep Jimmy this year if they can't trade him and let him compete for the starting job. Fine. Let's say he wins out and plays his usual okay games . All we do is push back Trey's learning curve. Sooner or later you have to bite the bullet and go with Lance. Let's not waste another year. He'll probably struggle like many young QBs but he might surprise us.

The reason I edited "nevermind", Trey Lance thread I forgot. I thought this was the Jimmy thread, so I leave it be.

I would welcome a competition. I believe Trey would beat out Jimmy in a competition straight up. This way all the die hard Jimmy supporters will no longer be able to make excuses. Jimmy will be forced to take a large pay cut or be cut. The die hard Jimmy supporters will either admit they are wrong and continue supporting the team or move on to whatever team Jimmy signs with. Slipping Jimmy will not be handed the starting job again like he was last year whether its with this team or the next.

So by the logic of the Lance haters:
A small school QB who only played 1 year in high school and 1 year at a FCS program is already as good as (if not better) than the Tom Brady protege QB they have been paying a fortune to for years. Sounds promising to me.

BTW: Lance was going to sit the first year no matter what. Hedberg (Lances old coach) got thrown to the wolves when he was QB at Tampa and made damn sure it didn't happen to Lance.

Let's not divide ourselves into "Lance haters" or any nonsense. Everyone wants 49ers and TL to win. Some are more bullish on TL than others. No haters to speak of my man or lady whatever the case may be.

Reposting my 2022 TL statline:

16 starts

4592 pass yds
42 pass TDs
11 INTs
496 rush yds
5 rush TDs

I don't believe that is accurate.

It's true of the Jimmy "haters" because they wanted the team to win they just didn't think Jimmy was capable. To decide Trey isn't capable with ZERO amount of data to support said conclusion is rooting for losing to be "right".

Zero data, yet the self proclaimed "football gurus" on this forum will say Trey would've easily had this team in the nfc championship or better had he start all year. Dumb

Yup. There's a reason why this guy is a legit MVP candidate. Per the interwebs:

He's the third-most popular MVP bet, behind Buffalo QB Josh Allen and new Broncos QB Russell Wilson. Lance opened at 80-to-1, but has shortened to 66-to-1 as bets pour in. Nearly 10% of the MVP handle is on Lance, making him BetMGM's biggest liability in the market.Mar 9, 2022

wonder what he is doing in the off season.. working out on his own.. does he have someone around to help him. is it legal for any of our coaches to work with him in the off season.

Our coaches aren't even allowed to talk to him about football.

He is doing work all over, working with Tom House and John Beck. Training with Aiyuk.

He'll be ready.
