Instead, they tried to thread the needle and they ended up a few plays away from a super bowl title last year, now we will see if the move paid off for the future. Lance has to be elite, they could've gotten a lot more value, imo, with 3 1st rounders and a 3rd then Lance, a complete question mark

Not with the way Jimmy played in the playoffs. Rashawn Slater doesn't make Jimmy hit a wide open Aiyuk.

They had to make a move. They couldn't just keep spinning tires in the mud with Jimmy.

There's no player we could have drafted last year that would have saved us from Jimmy's 4th quarter meltdown.

With the amount of time that was still on the clock and an offense that was struggling to move the ball?

I think may underestimate how much of a momentum changing play that can be. It can spark a whole team. Also it places doubt in Stanford's and the whole teams mind.
In order to win a chip you have to capitalize easy game changing plays like that. we seen what happened in the packers game after the blocked punt. All
of a sudden the offense starts running like a well oiled machine for the game winner.

That is a whole lot of "what ifs" there.

Highly doubtful

Agreed. As long as they're competitive, they've got at least another 3 years. Lynch may leave but it'll most likely be on his own terms.

Ya, money being a thing too, can't fire them that early, Jed will owe them a s**t load.

But overall, I'm very happy with KS, Lynch got some room for improvement. But KS has done such a damn good job here, especially while not having a solid QB.

it's so hard to win in the NFL without that, at least not consistently and he's done a good job overall and I really do believe he will only get better. Hopefully Lynch can also get on Kyle's level as a GM. He definitely needs to be more aggressive, but he's also been learning on the job. Overall, I am pleased with this FO (less Paraag though) overall I would give them an 8/8.5 out of 10 so far.

That would be exactly where I have them too. Very very close...right there.

I know we've had some concerns with Kyle too but they do seem to learn and grow and we've got a lot of evidence on their style and tendencies.

I'm excited for the new era and to watch how that marriage of Kyle and Trey grow together over time.

I know you lol, but I understand why you could make an argument for less overall score. It's tough to see some of these other teams pull off great mid season trades or, offseason trades / FA. I want a little bit more aggressiveness there, even if it ends up biting us in the ass.

But Kyle, this season for me as been his absolute best. You have a long list of coaches who have caught lightning in a bottle for a season or two, then they hit some major bumps in the next season or two and they never return to their early success.

This team had all the right to give up, 3-5 start, some bad injuries again, it was very easy for them to fold. And even after we started winning some games, we still had a couple stinkers afterwards. No way did I think we could be a contender, until around week 13/14.

Tl;Dr: Kyles a very good coach
So assuming Jimmy is not here next year, is Sudfeld actually the QB2?

cuz that is terrible if Lance misses any time.

the chiefs packers etc. have the same problem

if your star QB goes down long term that is likely season ending...PHI and Foles are the exception

if your star qb only misses a few games then you want a punchers chance...with our D and running game we have that

KC had Chad Henne, a QB with starting experience. Sudfeld hasn't even taken any meaningful snaps. This is one decision that I disagree with Shanahan about.
So ready to see this guy play

Coaches definitely know if Sud looks capable, we really have very little info on him.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see us go after a vet once we figure cut/trade Jimmy. Personally, I would feel better with a vet, even if it's slim pickings now. At least we can have a legit competition for the #2 spot.
