The dumbest part of this tweet is that he thinks it shows Trey in a bad light.

The actual play was a failure, a designed run on 1st and 10 in the red zone that went for maybe 2 yards, but it showed Trey's competitive fire and grit as he refused to give up on the play, attempting to drag a defender without a helmet.

It also was unnecessarily reckless given that he probably injured his knee on the play.

While the team lost (wasn't one of Shanny's better games, should of settled for FGs and not run Trey as much), Trey did impress in showing that he could fight through setbacks and mistakes and maintain his confidence and composure. That's important for a young QB.

Still wish they would've won.

I've seen fields, Wilson, Lawrence all suck just as bad. Who will be good and emerge from the pack is still a mystery.

I hope he worked on the short intermediate passes jimmy makes a living on. The one thing I'm looking for is getting the ball out fast. If he can do that a little better I think he has the best chance out of all the quarterbacks to succeed. Him and jones are the only ones on good teams.

He's shown that he can make the short and intermediate throws, and hit the slant route.

He did it consistently against San Diego in preseason. But he was incredibly inaccurate throwing slant routes against Seattle, which was likely due to nerves and lack of practice reps.

As the clip shows he was masterful throwing them against the Texans when he had a full week of starters reps and almost a seasons worth of studying film and learning the offense under his belt.

Agree wholeheartedly…it is more than stupid what Kelly said. And he was talking about Lance fans. Well, what about 9er fans? Hell , we all want Lance to be way better than even the biggest Lance fan has said. I was neutral in who we took and to this day wonder if he had still been there at #13. But once we had him, all i want is for him to just be crazy good.

Do i want him to be sensational? Of course. Do i expect that ? Probably not, but still think he will grow into the position as games go by. I want Trey to succeed beyond any measure. And as a niner fan, it is stupid for a guy like Kelly to make his remarks towards us 9er fans. Of course we ALL want him to be fantastic. Initially, tho, we will just have to give him time to be as good as he can be.

The great news is that we did work on the OL, tho by no means is it secure yet. With new young guys and Banks and Moore in yr 2, i truly expect the OL to be better for Trey than it was for JG. Our D despite losing DJJones , Key…hopefully we have replaced them to almost as good but our new EDGE should help a ton…and that is only good news for Trey. Same can be said for beefing up DBs, corners esp, but same for Ss.

RBs should help Trey a ton, and depending on Deebo as WR, our pass catchers should help Trey also. Trey is going into a situation where the team may not be a stacked SB team, but it does have a lot of very good to excellent talent, making it much easier for Trey to break out.

and that is what 49er fans should be looking forward to. I loved Jimmy, but Trey is our guy now. Why would ANY 9er fan NOT be in Trey's corner? As noted, Kelly 's post was just stupid.

Very well put as usual, doc
This team is definitely stacked. Can't wait for Trey to play, see him grow as a player. Should be a lot of fun seasons coming up. Let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

We should, but that's just not in this fanbases nature. We will nitpick, compare and whine until we win multiple Superbowls.

Not me though, I completely see why we've made this jump, Trey is as impressive a kid from a work ethic and character standpoint than he is talented.

Sure he has loads to work on, and when he plays we'll see more, but he's the kind of kid that will put all that work in.

We'll be seeing alot of that this season. ( Lance to Aiyuk ). These clips are getting me hyped right now.

I also saw Trey post something welcoming Verrett back after he re-signed. He seems like a good teammate.

He didn't post it on Facebook. He posted it in a full page ad in the local newspaper. Or maybe it was on Instagram?

All reports indicate that Trey is a hard worker. He is the first one in the building and the last one out. It has been reported that he is a film junkie. Now his leadership qualities are starting to be reported. I really believe that Trey Lance is going to surprise a lot of fans this season.
