Lance the person seems like the ideal franchise QB. He also has elite physical skills. It's easy to see why the FO liked him. It just remains to be seen whether he'll be able to put it all together.

Hes been working on his mechanics for past 2 years with very little field time.

He should be one of the most mechanically sound QBs with all the work he's put in.

I'm anxious to see it.

He is a failed Jets scout. Hates all things NDSU. He gets put in the corner daily on twitter and has been wrong about almost everything.

He HATED the Lance pick. He claims Lance will be the biggest bust.

He's right in questioning some homers thinking Lance is guaranteed to be the 2nd coming. But questioning fans supporting their top 5 pick and hopeful qb of the future? Thats stupid.

I have my reservations about Lance, but it doesn't mean I cant support him. Don't we all just want what's best for the 49ers in general?

Agree wholeheartedly…it is more than stupid what Kelly said. And he was talking about Lance fans. Well, what about 9er fans? Hell , we all want Lance to be way better than even the biggest Lance fan has said. I was neutral in who we took and to this day wonder if he had still been there at #13. But once we had him, all i want is for him to just be crazy good.

Do i want him to be sensational? Of course. Do i expect that ? Probably not, but still think he will grow into the position as games go by. I want Trey to succeed beyond any measure. And as a niner fan, it is stupid for a guy like Kelly to make his remarks towards us 9er fans. Of course we ALL want him to be fantastic. Initially, tho, we will just have to give him time to be as good as he can be.

The great news is that we did work on the OL, tho by no means is it secure yet. With new young guys and Banks and Moore in yr 2, i truly expect the OL to be better for Trey than it was for JG. Our D despite losing DJJones , Key…hopefully we have replaced them to almost as good but our new EDGE should help a ton…and that is only good news for Trey. Same can be said for beefing up DBs, corners esp, but same for Ss.

RBs should help Trey a ton, and depending on Deebo as WR, our pass catchers should help Trey also. Trey is going into a situation where the team may not be a stacked SB team, but it does have a lot of very good to excellent talent, making it much easier for Trey to break out.

and that is what 49er fans should be looking forward to. I loved Jimmy, but Trey is our guy now. Why would ANY 9er fan NOT be in Trey's corner? As noted, Kelly 's post was just stupid.
I look forward to seeing him grow and get better game by game through the season. Do I hope he sets the NFL on fire? Sure. Do I expect it? No. But I hope he can get there . Everything I hear about him so far around his work ethic, how he handles himself, is all positive. Why would a fan not be looking forward to this? Plenty of time later to crap on him if he were to fail lol, in true WZ tradition, but I would love this kid to be our guy and lead us back where we belong.

IMO a massive part of mechanics is being confident in your reads to begin with. When you get out there an the bullets are flying, regardless of how long you've worked on mechanics and how great you have it down...if you're not confident, you will refer back to your old ways.

Once he starts feeling good with where he's going with the ball pre/post the mechanics should become more consistent. Just my two cents there

Yep, part of it will be getting more comfortable with the playbook and being on-time with his reads. Poor mechanics often are a result of having to rush things. He also just needs more real in-game reps. It's one thing to be mechanically sound on the practice field and it's another thing to do it in a real game with the pass rush bearing down on you.

I've had convos with this dummy...he doesn't know anything about football and I actually question how much of a "scout" he was. Making some cut ups and getting coffee for guys isn't being a scout. Either way his little internship didn't last very long. I'm sure he sold a book or two lol.

What's even funnier is he was a writer for Cohn on SI for a hot min, then Grant fired him. I'm sure he was just plagiarizing someone else's scouting reports or something. All is articles from draft diamonds are removed too.... Now his focus is being a dick bag on twitter, trying to get engagements by being a heel towards a fan base that doesn't even know or care about him. Dude thought Tim Tebow was gonna be an MVP and multiple SB winner for god sake.

That has been my stance for awhile. Once the bullets start flying they resort back to what they were

yup. I expect him to go through ups and downs with his mechanics...but he seems like a really smart kid that can handle the pressure, gotta go do it over and over when it counts though. Only way he will improve everything.

That's why you gotta rep through all that stuff...Josh Allen did, Herbert did, Watson did, Rogers etc. Guys who have it between the ears and have the work ethic needed will survive the growing pains. Also need a decent supporting cast and a HC that gets it.

Lance has the work ethic to be a successful NFL player. I mean that he will be in the league one way or another for some time.

Now, he has the athleticism to be above average in the NFL.

The foundation is set with this kid. Only thing left is to determine if he can take it to the elite level in terms of in game decisions.

That's one hell of a resume. LOL
Apparently Aaron Rodgers is a big Trey Lance fan. In full 49ers gear at the draft.

Kyle will do his part to put him in good situations to succeed early and he'll build confidence. He's already better at throwing on the run than Jimmy.

Yup. I'm looking forward to defenses not just packing the paint so to speak and clogging the middle relentlessly.
