It's a process and planting your flag either way right now is dumb. Just be ready for highs and lows that come with a young player…he's in a spot to have success so let's wait and see how it goes.

I don't understand how any niner fan is not super pumped for trey's future

Same. I was devastated when we traded Joe to hand the keys to Steve. But this is NOT that situation. The only similarities between Jimmy and Joe are the injuries. We've seen Jimmy's ceiling and while good, he'll never be great. This team deserves nothing less than great.

That being said, if Trey doesn't prove to be great by the time his contract expires, I'll be clamoring for his replacement. It's been long enough, and we need a stud QB to rally behind.

Because there are two different Treys.

1. What most fans "see": The 3rd pick of the draft, Shannys handpicked qb who has a cannon of an arm, intelligent, and extremely mobile. The complete package. The dream. It's how some view him.

2. Then theres what some of us have actually seen, albeit only 2.5 regular season games. Not accurate, no touch, not a dynamic runner, can't hit those short passes, running around confused, unable to break tackles, not elusive. It may be different in practice, but that's what I've seen in actual gameplay..

We still don't know who he is. It's unfair to judge because it can go either way. Also, being pumped sets you up for even more heartbreak if he does bust. So we can be excited, with tempered expectations, but let's not like like we know anything, because we don't. We can only hope and watch.

You mean like that short pass TD to Mitchell against the Texans? Was that not with touch? Or whenever he throws to Juszcyk? Those are short passes no? Seems like you're only describing the Seahawks game where he was thrown in and didn't look that good. I don't recall him missing short passes against the Cardinals and Texans that much. I will agree that he doesn't look that dynamic as a runner right now but I think he'll get better at that with more game reps and being more comfortable and up to NFL speed.

Overall your second point isn't accurate. He has passes with touch, he has runs where he was dynamic, he hit short passes. He had passes that were accurate…the issue is it wasn't consistent and no one should expect that right out the gate given his lack of reps… Forming a opinion on him either way is silly (not saying you are).

Remember when Mahomes threw all those interceptions at practice? Any report like that should be taken with the smallest of grains. Actions speak louder than words, I'll patiently wait when the season comes around.

I agree there have been flashes with his passes. I dont agree with dynamic runs. I can't think of one run where I came away impressed. With that said, I'd rather him develop him into a pocket passer anyway and to use his legs only when a play breaks down.

I agree. I haven't seen dynamic running ability, nor do I necessarily want that as a major part of his game. What he is very good at is being illusive in the pocket. I also agree he's hot/cold in touch passes and accuracy. But literally everything else is off the charts.

It doesn´t matter if Trey isn´t "ready" (whatever that means).
It doesn´t matter if the coaches are underwhelmed by Trey.
It doesn´t matter what Kittle or Juice want.
It doesn´t matter if Trey throws wobbles.
It doesn´t matter if Trey got a huge tattoo.

The reality:

-The team traded the farm to get Trey and now the kid is in his second year after spending the first year holding a clipboard in 17.5 games.
-Garoppolo is QB-purgatory at best and he won´t be better than that.
-Trey has to play now. If he is really good we´ll win the Super Bowl very soon. If he busts we´ll suck and we´ll get a new QB in 3 years with a new coaching staff.
-The thing is that this FO and coaching staff must have the guts to play Trey now and face the consequences whatever are good or bad.

We can´t keep delaying this.

Yeah, hopefully he's not a running QB, but one who has the capability when needed. And he has shown that in the times he played. Had a couple real beauties vs peacocks. Personally, I'd like to see him work on when to slide.
So this could have been the reason why he didn't get a snap in the playoffs. Or rushed Jimmy back before the rams game in week 18. The media and staff were worried he may not have been ready in the do or die game. No confidence in Trey, and I worried why he didn't take another snap after the Seahawks game in week 5 until the Houston Texans game. This all makes sense now. That or Kyle is dead wrong on him and he's gonna be great. Its we have a bad coach or bad draft pick we went with for the farm. No other way to span it. Kyle is dead wrong in his opinion, or trey gonna be a let down.

Or the locker room rallied around Jimmy. Jimmy couldn't go vs. HOU so they needed Lance to win a must-win. And he did, and Jimmy was well-enough after that point. And the further we went, the more we were going to live-or-die with Jimmy.
