Then I realized Tebow was drafted in 2010 and by 2014 he already showed the league how crappy a QB he was.
here, so we can all dismiss anything this dude says about QBs. Again, this is in 2014 when the league knew Tebow sucked:

No, Tim Tebow is still a future Hall of Fame caliber quarterback. Tim Tebow is still a quarterback capable of winning multiple Super Bowls. I stake my scouting reputation on those statements.
HAHA yeah he's been called out about that plenty, he just changes the topic real quick.
How could this guy not be in the HOF??
This is an example of what's called "juxtaposition" wherein the comment says "Tim Tebow had a decent arm" and the video below shows Tebow throwing a duck that's been shot. It is my TikTok masterpiece pic.twitter.com/1v8naDdtj8

JoseCortez posted a video of Daniel Kelly saying Lance will bust. I looked up Kelly's credentials and saw what he said about Tim Tebow. A few laughs later, here we are.

IMO here are the things that make QBs successful in the NFL
Talent
Coaching
Supporting cast
Determination and work ethic
Intelligence
By all accounts Trey has all of those so he's definitely setup for success and if he puts in the effort the rest should fall into place.
Another big thing which really cannot be foreseen until the player is actually out there is how does he deal with the lows of the game. Getting hit often, if the team isn't as great as maybe he had before but not much we can do about these things until he's in those situations and ideally you don't want to see him in that situation.
In his short sample size he did show that adversity wasn't something that causes him to shell up and cry but it was a short sample size.
Overall I think we're trending in a really good direction and I think we have the coaches and talent to help Trey along the way.
I'd put work ethic right after talent and before coaching. We need a guy that will work on his mechanics in the off season and study the film hard
Based on a good video I've seen recently, 1st rounder QB success over the last decade has largely been correlated to great physical ability, coaching, and going to a good squad.
All 3 we have in SF right now.
Even Deshaun Watson overcame the last 2.

Your list is off to a good start, but I would add/amend the following:
Talent
Coaching
Supporting cast
work ethic
Intelligence
fortitude/toughness
leadership
luck
I think fortitude is critical to overcoming adversity, toughness being related, and leadership to glue a team together are really important aspects. And luck is just an aspect that a QBs is in no control over, but can define a career.

For the poster who inquired, I actually have called out some of the posts who were hyper critical of Lance. Just like it is too early to be falling all ourselves telling everybody how great he is going to be it is too early to say he was the worst pick in team history or that he is going to be a bust which are both equally ludicrous takes. It's just that there seem to be fewer of those types around so they're easier to ignore,
I don't have the slightest idea how Lance is going to work out. I haven't seen him play enough to even have much of an opinion of him at all at this point. In fact my entire assessment consists of four things.
1) He seems like he throws a decent deep ball.
2) While he is certainly more mobile than Jimmy I don't get the impression that he is anywhere near the elite runner that some others seem to believe. But that's okay because I like my QB's to play from the pocket so any kind of escape-ability he does possess will be a nice bonus.
3) From all accounts he is a good guy, a hard worker and someone who is interested in improving his game, all pluses.
4) Through the pre-season and the 10 quarters he played during the regular season he only completed something like 57% of his passes. There could be a lot of reasons for that so there's really no reason to raise the red flags yet but it will be something to keep an eye on moving forward. I'm no expert on schemes but it seems to me that a lot of Kyle's offense is built around the QB getting the ball out of his hands and into the hands of his play makers and letting them do the work. Seems like only completing 57% of your passes would leave a lot of lost opportunities on the field. But that is a number that could easily be improved upon with more reps and more experience in the system so I'm not overly concerned about it at this point.
The bottom line is I'm looking forward to seeing him play and hope that he turns out to be everything the team thought he could be when they drafted him. I supported Jimmy when he was the starter and was completely okay with him getting the call last year. Now Lance has the opportunity to step up and earn the job. Hopefully he'll take it and run with it. I know I'll certainly be rooting for him to succeed. Go Niners!
For the record I should of just said I haven't seen you do that, instead of saying you haven't done it. There's way too many pages of threads for me to read everything so that's my fault for phrasing it that way.
My intent was to highlight this issue of hypocrisy that's all over the webzone not to call you out specifically. But I did and again that's my bad.
One of the reasons I wanted to highlight your consistent stance of not being too high or too low is because I share the same feeling. As big of a believer I am of Trey he certainly hasn't arrived yet and I don't think people should be making any absolute claims about him at this point. He may end up being a top 10 QB, or maybe the best running QB in the NFL, or he may become a much better pocket passer than people expect, or he may absolutely become a bust.
The point is I don't see a lot of posters tempering the low expectations of Lance who were also arguing that Jimmy received too much criticism throughout the season... only the high expectations are tempered.
To me I see that as an example of this tribalism BS that's been going on all year. We should all want what's best for the team and the team only. I would have loved to see Jimmy win a Super Bowl but now the focus should be on Lance getting it done.
Man sometimes if you sift through enough s**t-posting and forum pissing contests, you find a diamond or two.
