Look I'm a big fan of Trey and was jumping for joy when we drafted him, I just wish they would have left his mechanics alone. All of the "project" talk was stupid, and only said because he was coming from a small school. He was a polished QB. NOW he looks like a project, and Shanahan is running him like he's Cam Newton, which is a disservice to his development as a passer. Hopefully this season looks very different than his games/reps last season.

It's called arm slot...and guys like Stafford AND Jimmy use it to make throws from different angles all the same.

Kyle said his arm was sore only once in the beginning of TC last yr. He didn't even know what people were talking about when it was brought up at a lunch with Lance/BA a couple weeks ago. Kyle also said he's never had a QB NOT have a sore arm at some point. That goes for guys like Ryan/Kirk all those in the pocket old school passers.

Look my point is your theory doesn't hold water. His mechanics doesn't create anything abnormal

Well, that's quite a take.

You saying you can't be a polished QB and come out of a small school? Lol

No I'm not. I'm saying your take that Trey Lance was a polished QB coming out is absurd.

Again, being able to use different arm angles/slots in various situations is great, but that's not what has been discussed these past several days. You and others have made the case (well done by the way) that these young QB's are being taught to alter their delivery on every throw, not just when a situation calls for it. And since it's more of a side arm type delivery, which puts more stress on the elbow, it would stand to reason that their arms would get tired.

Here is a video describing the type of elbow injury that can occur from not extending the arm out in front, but rather to the side:

Here is the one someone here (maybe it was you?) posted, which is the interview with Burrow and Simms, and @ 12:00 Burrow is literally describing a more side arm delivery. And ironically the same type of arm-across motion that ends with a lot of rotation in the forearm. Which the previous video shows causes elbow injuries.

So is it really surprising that we're hearing about Stafford, Lance, or any of these QB's having arm fatigue? For whatever marginal benefit these new QB throwing mechanics may offer, I don't think it's worth the potential injury to the QB nor having to deal with bouts of inconsistency (in game or in season) because of a delivery that's very hard to repeat.

But what do I know, I'm just a "dinosaur" who prefers QB play and mechanics that has dominated the last 30ish years of the NFL.

Mathew Stafford is on a pitch count this offseason because of this issue and yet you don't hear anything about it from the media. Bu with Trey they use it as a case for him not being ready to start.

This

Apples to apples because Stafford is still a question mark just like Trey?
Stafford being on a pitch count doesn't even raise an eyebrow.

I'm talking about his throwing mechanics. Wasn't saying he was mentally ready to start day 1 or anything.

Is this because you believe Jimmy is vastly underrated or that Trey will be a bust? I just don't understand based on evidence we have.

Thanks for speaking for me.

Trey is not the answer. But than again I said Reuben Foster was a terrible pick for us and got all types of hate for saying that, yet I was right, wouldn't expect anything different now.

Sure buddy. Why aren't you working in a front office if you're a guru?

i can understand the Foster call but what are you basing calling Trey a bust on? we all saw the massive improvement from the AZ to HOU games last year.

is this just a gut feeling?
