Mahomes had a great 1st season I get that, but if it was that easy to find qbs like that we wouldn't be in this situation. Info is coming out now that he didn't even read defenses that year but more the following years when he did win it all. You're stating that 1 year is all you need to see if a qb is elite or great?

My point is it's pretty easy to tell if they have "it". In general though, I agree we need about 3 seasons to know for sure.

It's still ugly AF. And what's with the hop before he starts his dropback? Everything looks a mess. But his arm looks like it has some zip, so there's that. Let's see how he looks on game day.

That's it right there. I'm not so much into how his mechanics and such looks. To me, it's easy to make whatever it is you're working on look good doing practice because that's literally what you're concentrating on. When bullets start flying it needs to be natural. That obviously will be the real test.
I also think that's why we keep seeing him go 9-11 in these practices and the reports coming out that they're all short passes. He has to think about whatever it is he's working on and not the game itself.
