I am not as worried as some folks are about Trey running. People like to point out that guys like Deebo and Kittle get hurt a lot because of the way they play the game. I will argue against that. A majority of those injuries to guys like Deebo and Kittle have been from when they were put in vulnerable situations like Kittle getting rolled over on in the backfield while run blocking. Or Deebo and Kittle catching late passes from the uh uhm QB and getting smashed. I don't think I have seen Deebo get injured once while laying the wood on defenders. Hit them before they hit you. Now I don't expect Trey to play with rekless abandon but he has shown some toughness and he is just as likely to get hurt in the pocket a la Jimmy.

Part of his skillset is what he brings to the running game, so I don't mind him running as long as he's able to protect himself. So far, I don't know if "slide" is in his vocabulary. When he dives at the feet of a defender, that's fine too. When he tries to truck downhill safeties, at some point, that's not going to end well.

That hit by the safety in the Texans game that everyone brings up. It really wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. He turned away from the hit, toward the sideline. He didn't try to truck him.

Still not a hit I'm comfortable with. He did go head on with a LB at the goal line. Glad to see he has that fight, but not advisable in most situations.

:29. Back to back plays. He absolutely tried to run over the defenders.
Trey injured his knee the first time trying to bowl a guy over. He was injured his very first start by running.

Those 2 hits you are referring to, I am not worried about. They were clean tackles. As long as defenders aren't head hunting or knee hunting I am fine with it. That really shouldn't be a problem with the rules put into place today. I would be more worried about the sack at 1:03 where he is being brought down in a pile and his legs being twisted up.

Link? From what I recall he doesn't know when he hurt his knee.

This is the hit that most likely did it. Watch him slightly grab the knee on the final replay. It was severe enough to keep him out the next week. This is not QBing. And yes it was hard hit. His complete forward momentum was stopped.

The next week was a bye week and Jimmy was the starter and came back to continue being the starter.

Also, he didn't get up holding his knee. He touched his knee, got up and walked away fine.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said today that Lance has a knee sprain and might not be available for the 49ers' next game, in two weeks against the Colts. The 49ers are on their bye this week.

I am not saying that he didn't leave the game with a knee sprain. I am saying that we don't know exactly when it happened. Nor do we know how severe it actually was.
