Some of the "weirdness" with evaluations as Mahomes sees it...

Patrick Mahomes has taken notice of the "weird" criticisms that he and other Black quarterbacks in the NFL have received lately.

Though he didn't want to say that Black quarterbacks are evaluated differently than their white counterparts, Mahomes thinks the comments that he, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray have gotten this week are strange.

"Obviously, the Black quarterback has had to battle to be in this position that we are to have this many guys in the league playing," Mahomes said Friday, KSHB's Aaron Ladd. "I think every day, we're proving that we should have been playing the whole time. We've got guys that can think just as well as they can use their athleticism.

"It's always weird when you see guys like me, Lamar [Jackson], Kyler [Murray] kind of get that on them when other guys don't. But at the same time we're going out there to prove ourselves every day to show we can be some of the best quarterbacks in the league."

Funny coming from Mahomes. Kid could drop his drawers on the 50 yd line and take a dump and the announcers would find a way to praise him. Total media darling.

Bingo. Folks kiss the ground Mahomes walks on. Coming from him the statement falls flat. We have organizations trading outlandish packages to move up and draft these guys (for their brains and god gifted abilities) over less gifted athletes and they get "weird criticisms". Pfft, okay Chief, as if your ass hasn't been kissed since you became the starter. Everyone is held accountable for their actions and their skin tone (as implied by Mahomes) has zero, zip, and zilch of a factor in that evaluation.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing the world he doesn't exist.

Racism, well prejudice, in QB evaluation has been around for the longest time.

I think it helps that he has a GM who's a former broadcaster and a QB coach who's a former broadcaster on his team coaching him on media matters. I can see him be another talking head like Steve Young - in the far off distant future too.

I have one small criticism that I think Trey could work on. He needs to stop saying everything is Super. He's super excited about the season. The team is looking super good. He's been working super hard. Just please drop the super . It makes him sound like a junior high school kid.

I know it's a small thing but it bothers me when he speaks just like Kyle's constant umm's during his speeches.

I think in his last press conference interview (was it yesterday?) I didn't hear a lot of supers .
Leg fatigue is catching up to him.

August 12, we play Green Bay. Hope the trainers give him extra dose of electrolytes!

Haha. He's going to need his own bye-week.

Indeed and not just the one way street people cry over. Everyone falls victim to it at some point. It's why HoFers have been drafted in the 6th round, because their physical appearance was not worthy of being drafted higher.

No one has came in here and said racism doesn't exist. However, I am afraid a a defensive coordinator claiming mahomes doesn't get past his first read well doesn't exactly qualify as a such.

Back to Trey Lance. Let's hope he gets back on the horse today.
Media and fans alike need to settle the f**k down. Let the kid breath. There is a ton of pressure, no need to make it worse. This isn't Madden, he is going to have his ups and downs. Let's just hope we see progression over time.

Scrutinizing his training camp stat line is stupid and short sighted. How he is reacting to situations and over coming them is huge. He has all the talent, it's what is between the ears that is going to decide his success Dont screw that up with ignorance and impatience.

Do you think it's gotten better over the years? I think so.

Maybe he's already working on that. Could be a quick learner. No big deal. Just something to throw out there until we start seeing some actual football.
Relax, there's no need to start with the excuses. Welcome back to the reality of green quarterbacks needing time to adjust to the pro game. Some of you had seriously overblown expectations, don't let them get you down. Trey will be fine. He's too naturally gifted to be a failure. Might take some time, just be patient and don't freak out when he looks inexperienced.
