If we're talking numbers, then it's more about the efficiency numbers. If he throws for 3800 but is doing it with a 7.0 yards per attempt, that's not very good - especially with the weapons Lance has. More than numbers though, it's about how he looks doing it. The eye test will tell us more than any numbers.

Yessir and he was making Pat McAfee's jaw drop with the eye test

I need to see him settle down as the season progresses. Less and less dropbacks where he's frantic and panicked when it's not necessary. If he's a different QB week 1 compared to week 17, that's what I want to see. His end of season numbers aren't as important as how comfortable he looks operating the offense. Make those on rhythm throws when they are there to be had. Kyle dials up the "layups", make those layups.

Absolutely agree 💯%, and those layups will be there. Most likely to the RB's in the flat. I'll be looking forward to a lot of RAC's by the running backs!

I'm hoping he can up the completion percentage to 62-63%.

Honestly it looks unlikely. And that may not be a huge bummer. His ypa will be high.

Look at that off structure throw

Haha. That was on schedule. Note all the OL and chip block moving with Montana.

We might see some of that this year with a rolling pocket.

Nope throwing off your back foot with pressure in your face isn't a in rhythm throw.

If he's throwing a lot to the running backs, his numbers could be as high as low to mid 60's.

His release is fine. I think there are some people just don't like how it drops below the elbow for a wasted motion/windup at times. You can see it at :12 seconds in that video. It's not a big deal for Kyle because he's mentioned he cares more about feet and eyes at this point from his QBs. I think Trey said he's aware of it and has seen people on the internet break his release down in slow motion.

Dont care what his completion percentage is if we are moving the ball.

I could be wrong but how many legit QBs have completely transformed their game by switching up their throwing motion? I understand tweaks and such but most QBs can throw the ball regardless.

Wont get brought up ever if we don't have to read garbage posts about Treys spiral

you need to chill, i think trey is going to do just fine this season. observing that he tosses wobbly passes shouldn't trigger you

It also triggers a few on here that Trey does throw some wobblers. That is why they keep mentioning it. Those folks never mention the times he does throw a tight spiral though.

Some wobblers? It's the majority of his passes. And the few tight spirals that he has thrown, I've been complementary about it. I will say the past few practices I've seen more of them, so that's a good sign. Perhaps he's finally getting used to this new side arm release that he's being taught.

Eric Crocker said today that he spoke to someone from 3DQB off-the-record about what Trey worked on this offseason with them and he said they only worked on footwork and lower body mechanics. They did not work on anything with his upper body throwing mechanics nor did they receive any notes from the 49ers about working on anything related to his throwing motion.
