Yes SD Drew Brees accuracy and throwing motion was much different than NO Drew Brees. NO Drew Brees throwing motion became much tighter and accuracy was much more on point. Especially as the years progressed. I'm not saying he wasn't accurate in SD, but he became even better and HOF status in NO. Accuracy included.

Go look at Aaron Roger's throwing motion in Cal vs year 4 in the NFL. He had that off the shelf high ball carry, He relied on his upper body so much in college and that affects accuracy. Took Rogers 4 years to get his throwing motion changed enough and he even has an arm slot angle all the same.

I can't believe Brees carved out a hall of fame career after that shoulder injury in SD. That was pretty gruesome looking at the time.

FWIW, Mac Jones has looked less than impressive in camp too. It's almost as if they're isn't going to be an adjustment period for these young players that are in the big leagues. These entitled fans want instant gratification, a HOF caliber player the 1st time they touch an NFL football.
Trey Lance has the arm, the intelligence and the work ethic needed to succeed in the NFL. Kyle Shanahan has gotten the most out of every QB who has played under him. I see absolutely no reason to be worried.

Trey's training camp has been far from impressive, but it's too early to make a judgment.

Having said that, I do think he's still two years away from looking like a solid NFL starter.
I wouldn't go as far as saying he hasn't had an impressive camp. I'd say he is raw and learning against the best defense in the NFL, like to see anyone come in and crush against our defense with 2 games playing experience. The offense has held their own, but they'll be better for it.

I didn't say Shanny was a sorcerer. You can't expect him to make chocolate out of dog s**t. Just saying.

Just a little more food for thought… exchange between Saints and Vikings beat reporters.

This is so obvious I'd figure it'd go without saying, but I guess it doesn't.

You can't get better at a thing if you don't make mistakes and push your boundaries. That goes for anything in life. If Shannahan wanted to set up practice so that Trey completes 90% of his passes so that the tweets would look good , I'm sure he could.

And nowadays you got guys reporting statlines like its a game. Practice isn't the game. I wish reporters couldn't even go to camp except for maybe once a week. I'd rather just wait to see what's real with my own eyes.

Im a 100% supporter of trey but the issues aren't just "hey, he threw a pick". It's that he has a guy open, he's throwing it, and it's inaccurate. I haven't seen any of the practices, this is just some of the feedback from people who are there
