From that I take that Kyle was looking to move up to get Mac at three and decided to check out Lance since he was now on the table and liked him better.

Also

Shanahan added that he can't pinpoint when the decision shifted to Lance, but the coach obviously got to the point where he felt good about picking him over Jones.

Being he went 15 that would've been the biggest reach of all time considering the compensation given up.

Everyone knew that Mac Jones wasn't going too three until Chris's Simms started yelling Mac Jones after we traded up

He wasn't valued by any other club at three so we didn't need to trade three firsts to get dude in February or March

The trade up was so we could look at the Trey Lances and Justin Fields of the world. We could have looked at Mac all we wanted at 12 as no one else was beating down the block to trade up for him. He barely went too twenty

Would have been a waste of draft capital
