What if Kyle wanted Mac and Lynch wanted Lance?

What if Policy wanted Joe and Walsh wanted Young? It doesn't really matter. We have who we have.

kyle did his due diligence and chose trey

Kyle was cornered by Lynch and others in the building to take Trey because of all the backlash the of the fans when it was leaked out in the media about taking Jones. They traded up initially for Mac Jones. There is no question about this. Even Shanahan from his own mouth can't recall when he decided he was going for Lance. This decision was not made more than a week prior to the draft. There is plenty of evidence during press conferences how Shanahan was reacting to questions about the pick. This story is not going away anytime soon.

There's no way anyone in the 49ers front office can force Kyle to coach a QB he doesn't want to coach.

Both we're great QBs though

Yup people need to stop with that nonsensical narrative

Agreed! I believe it was Kyle's decision all the way. I just think it was one of those things he was out numbered on and decided to go with the consensus.
Make no mistake, I'm not by any means suggesting that he had Mac with a significantly higher grade than Trey and went with Trey. I think it was close so he chose to go with the consensus.

Wasn't he kind of forced to coach Jimmy?

You're suggesting that the team signed Jimmy to a five year contract without Kyle's blessing? I don't believe that for one second.

Being he went 15 that would've been the biggest reach of all time considering the compensation given up.

Everyone knew that Mac Jones wasn't going too three until Chris's Simms started yelling Mac Jones after we traded up

He wasn't valued by any other club at three so we didn't need to trade three firsts to get dude in February or March

The trade up was so we could look at the Trey Lances and Justin Fields of the world. We could have looked at Mac all we wanted at 12 as no one else was beating down the block to trade up for him. He barely went too twenty

Would have been a waste of draft capital

I strongly disagree, although who knows for sure. I've read enough that I would bet my house that Kyle absolutely traded up with Mac in mind. That trade was a bit in the early evaluation stages and Kyle knows what he sees on tape (imo). I even feel in his own words he's telling everyone that he really wanted Mac. He's taking a leap of faith with Trey by "believing in what he didn't see". It's just my opinion but I have no doubts that he was talked OUT of drafting Mac but I bet he wanted to.

Probably not, but Kyle didn't know about the Jimmy trade until after It happened. So it's not like Jimmy was Kyle's QB to begin with either.

This conversation sucks. It's like we are back in June 2021 again.

Go get it, Lance!
We drafted the right guy In the end ( hopefully )
Just the thought of Kyle drawing up plays on his iPad with Mac Jones in mind instead of Lance, and was giddy enough to show them off to Lynch...that makes me giggle a little lol
