They were right the whole time.
They were not right. If they were right, Kyle would have drafted Mac Jones. They said Kyle was drafting Mac. That was their prediction and stated it like it was a fact and just days before the draft this is still who they said Kyle was drafting. Kyle had likely made up his mind long before then. I would say atleast 2 weeks prior to the draft Kyle had made up his mind or was atleast leaning in that direction.

I recall Eisen reporting a week or two before the draft that his sources said it was going to be Lance at #3.

They started leaning once they traded up and it only solidified the decision once they got to openly court Trey Lance
They didn't have to do such a drastic 3 month out three first rd draft pick to get to 3 to court and draft Mac. NE sure as heck didn't!
Everyone knew pretty much where everyone was going to be drafted give or take a couple exceptions. I mean Mac went at 15 for God's sake with NE standing pat!

they literally weren't. kyle said from the get go he was interested in all the qbs and didn't want a team to leapfrog them. if anyone thinks he was all in on trey or mac or fields, then you just chose not to believe kyle.
Exactly lol.
Kyle has been completely honest about the process, but people keep wanting to see something that isn't there. If Kyle wanted Mac, we'd have drafted Mac. Thank god that he decided to draft Trey.

In this situation you're literally thanking Kyle.

Why are you making the assumption that there is an anti Trey crowd. While people questioned his readiness to start last year based on his limited experience I don't think there has been a lot of sentiment out there to suggest people don't want him to succeed, outside of that one guy who was all in on the team picking Mac Jones. Why also would you make the assumption that people who supported Jimmy's continued tenure as the starting QB last year now make up the core of an "anti Trey" component? Again, I have seen very few posters in here actively rooting for Lance to fail but rather are just taking a wait an see attitude.
What I have seen is the opposite though where people constantly rip on Jimmy as if that is their sole reason for existing. Jimmy always gave his best and when he was healthy enough to get through most of the season helped get the team to two NFC Championship games. I have never understood the hate that he inspires among some posters in here for all of the contributions he made to the team. All I can figure is that, at its core, it's all about this sort of phony sense of entitlement that some 'fans" have abut this team. "Oh, well we had Joe and Steve, so we DESERVE and want only HOF QB's on our roster nothing else will do". Oh, please, get over it.
Like many people I was proud of the team's unbeaten Super Bowl record and that loss to Baltimore is one of the many reasons I have always been down on the Harbaugh/Kaepernick experience. That was a winnable game and they failed to get it done. But that ship has sailed. There is no way for the team to go back to being unbeaten so now, like every other team in the league, they are out there competing to get back to the big game and get another trophy. People seem to forget that Joe wasn't always able to get the team over the hump and that Steve lost two straight NFC Championship games to the Cowboys, in large part because of his own mistakes. If social media had been a thing back then I don't have the slightest doubt that he would have gotten completely excoriated for those losses and that "fans" would have been calling for his head. But now he is a generally admired part of a storied past. But Jimmy misses a throw that could have made a difference amidst the team's utter defensive collapse in the last 10 minutes of the game and it becomes an unforgivable sin for some. Whatever, The team decided it was time to try something new and hopefully Trey will give everyone plenty of reasons to get behind him. Go Niners!

Talking out of both sides of your mouth here. SMH.
Bro thank you. I read that post and took an aspirin. He cemented my comment as fact

I remember many of us saying he may have traded up with Mac in mind, but wanted a look at Trey/Fields and.. well in hindsight it was a very logical and rational approach. Lets hope Trey kicks some serious ass!
yep it's exactly like he said. they didn't want another team jumping ahead of them. they wanted time to evaluate the QBs. people just don't want to believe kyle and john for some reason
I read that article and its literally exactly what he said and how we understood it. And I'm thinking to myself in hindsight it all lines up and makes perfect sense. Instead we have Hallmark channel movies being written about what really happened.

None of that matters. As NY said, we took Trey time to root for him and move on.
I said when we made the trade and when Simms started yapping that Mac wasn't going at three prior to us moving up this the expensive trade up was NOT worth it for Mac
I wagered we did that for fields or Lance. I was only partially right
Mac went 15 as I knew no one else in the entire league was gonna go that high that early for dude
Lance was the guy NOT fields.
I admit I was wrong on interest for fields but I would have what myself if we went that high to take Mac but would have been fine had we made the draft day trade to get him ahead of NE had it come down to that

And in the end he loved what he saw. Now if the roles were reversed and it was Trey who had 4 years of experience and it was Mac who only had 1 season at a smaller school, Kyle never would have even taken a 2nd look at Mac. The real shocker to me is he didn't even have Fields on his radar at all. I wonder what it was about him that he didn't like. Maybe holding the ball too long?
Yup, common sense approach. I wonder the same about Fields as well. If I had to guess, his seizures may have scared him off knowing he was fine with Mac and enamored with Lance. He did his due diligence for sure, but that probably just made it easy to go down to two and Fields was probably 3rd on the list already.

We both liked Fields, but most agreed you don't trade that much for a prospect like Mac. I take Kyle at his word here. If Lance and Fields were total duds i his view he was OK with taking Mac at 3, but he had his eye on Lance from the get go.
