I get your point and agree stat wise that Trey doesn't need to light it up but if Trey is Jalen Hurts then that's pretty underwhelming imo. I'm personally not sold on the guy one bit. He has a good start but averaged under 180 yards per his last 8. The team was winning so I'll take that over stats but I hope Trey is better.

If he's Hurts in his first season that's more than fine with this team. He's not gonna be a Jedi master as a in the pocket passer yr 1, no one should be expecting that.

philly ran the s**t out of the football second half of the year. I expect the same from SF. I think Lance is by far more talented then Hurts, I just don't think he's gonna come out like Mahomes right off the bat.

baby steps people

No argument on that, I just think Hurts is setting the bar too low but I do agree that expectations need to be tempered.

This guy was third overall and cost 2 additional first rounders.

The benchmark is not Jalen Hurts, and if it is...that's a huge problem.

Yeah I mean he played very well last year and they added AJ Brown.. I don't get why ppl keep using him as the barometer of suck.. I'm impressed he led them to the playoffs without Brown..

If you watch him play, you'll see why. Even birds fans will tell you that he's their biggest question mark/lackluster area heading into this season. He's not a good quarterback.

So by those numbers, Offensive Linemen and Defensive Linemen have the third and fourth longest careers, but they take on far more contact in a game than WRs do and yet WRs have the second shortest careers. Is it possible that there are more factors involved than just more contact = shorter career?

Common sense indeed.

Also can't compare RB's to even the most running QB's in the league. RB's are getting 20+ carries a game on most days and are also getting hit, bumped, tackled, and piled on by multiple guys. Majority of the time the QB is getting brought down by 1 guy. Lamar runs a ton but you rarely see him taking a big hit. RB's can't really avoid that kind of physical contact. Aslong as Trey is smart about it and doesn't try to constantly run over people and also knows when to just slide or run out of bounds he should be ok.

According to this breakdown it's 55% no/minimal contact, 34% moderate contact, and 11% heavy contact. That's not exactly "rare."

Even if it means putting his QB in harm's way.

Football's football. Harm will be in your way regardless.

I'll tell u right now,...he's still going to scramble and run the ball from time to time.

"From time to time" is perfectly reasonable. The concern some of us have is how Shanahan used Trey last year and his statements this year (it's about making it 11 vs. 11). Let's hope Trey's running is more from scrambling rather than designed runs.

He could've cost 4 1st rounders. Do we automatically announce his bid into the HOF at that point?

Or is he still just another 1st rd/Top 10 QB that has to develop?
Fortunately we were able to use those picks to get one of the cornerstones. Passer and pass rusher

We now have both and we have a good roster and coaches so I'm not sweating the picks at this point

In time this is gonna look like a great deal to move up and get Trey and he could very well be a 15 year guy under Kyle

I think the bar is appropriate for his first yr…great D and a offense based around the run. Same as Philly.

Lance is more talented and I don't expect him to just be Hurts for his career or anything. We're talking YR1.

4,000 total yards, 61 comp%, 30+ total TDs I wouldn't be upset with that at all…great base to develop off of.

The #3 pick who we traded three 1st for having a similar season to the 53rd pick is "appropriate?" Lol wow. Y'all really lining up the excuses.

All due respect Furlow.. what does draft status matter.. he can have a year worthy of pick 199.. which by the way was TB12

Russell Wilson was a 3rd round pick. What difference does it make where someone was drafted?
Are you guys saying we should expect just as much out of a 3rd rounder as a 3rd total pick? One that we spent 3 first rounders on?! Expectations should be exactly the same?

I don't think anyone is saying that. It just doesn't make sense to say that a player is disappointing for only matching the stats of someone who was drafted much later when that player is an outlier for their draft position. If Lance has the same career as Tom Brady, are we going to say he was a disappointment for only matching the accomplishments of a 6th round pick?
