QBs that won week 1: Trubisky, Fields, Brissett, Geno Smith, i'll throw Mills in here, Daniel Jones
QBs that lost week 1: Rodgers, Burrow, Ryan, Tannehill, Wilson, i'll throw Mac in here I think he's decent

I mean this list couldn't be more lopsided. If you think these QBs and teams will maintain their success throughout the season you have another thing coming. Let's not over-react to the Niners and Lance week 1 performance

Exactly all of this.

I would encourage people to look up Peyton Manning or Troy aikmans first year.

Those teams didn't get to championship game the year before.

Yup. Those teams were not lucky enough to stumble into the championship game the year before.

Both of those QBs had stellar college careers and started for 3 or 4 years. They were much more polished than Trey which is why I wanted to see him get more snaps in certain games last season and again in the preseason. You can see that the talent is there but it need a lot of development.

Agreed. Trey needs to go through the growing pains so that he can develop. Calling for him to be benched because we supposedly have a "championship caliber team" will only hinder his development and hurt our future at the position.

I think what's an oddball here though is again that lack of college experience. At least when the Chiefs made the transition from a competent QB to a potential star the potential star had a lot of college experience and at a reasonably high level in the Big 12. I say reasonably high because that conference isn't known for its defenses.

That's why it will always be a headscratcher to me that we went with Trey and made the transition so quickly. I mean it happened so I'm down. Doesn't mean I completely get it. It does reek of Kyle's grand experiment that we hope works.

I don't neccessarily disagree. Trey Lance was not on my radar at all. I thought it was going to be Mac Jones or Justin Fields. After watching a lot of Trey's tape, I could understand why we selected him over the other two. Its True that he is very raw but the intangibles are certainly there. The decision has been made and all we can do now is hope he comes close to reaching his ceiling.

Its crazy that after the quarterbacking we have seen that some want the backyard flukey stuff here.

First time he'll get consecutive starts. Hard to get a lot out of that rainy game except for the experience of playing in a rainy game. I don't think the SEA pass rush will be as good as the CHI pass rush so he should get a better pocket to operate from.

Folks are so worried about the offense being the reason for why we don't get back to the championship because of an inexperienced QB. The problem I have with such a thought process is that the offense averaged 15 ppg in the playoffs and only averaged 25 ppg in the regular season. Its not as if the offense carried this team last year. If it were not for a low IQ play by Dak in DAL and a rare punt block for a TD in GB, we would have not even made it to the championship game.

This holds zero water. There are what ifs in every game every week. The 49ers made the nfc championship last year period.

And saying this roster is SB caliber holds zero water as well. Championships aren't won on paper but are won on the football field..

I don't recall ever claiming that. The roster is loaded though.

Everyone needs to R-E-L-A-X. It was a horribly ugly loss, but the team flashed that they can absolutely dominant. Trey had some great moments in the game and some poor throws which should've been expected by any realistic fan. Most of his decisions seemed sound. The team will be fine.

Never said you did. You jumped in on the middle of a conversation and took my post out of context. That is not my issue, that is yours.

I am not taking s**t out of context. I am telling you what if's don't mean s**t in the nfl and that is a fact. The 2021 49ers made the nfc championship. Nothing but facts were said.
We have Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Mitchell, Williams which is good as core as any in the league.

We have Bosa, Armstead, Ward, Kinlaw, Warner and Hufanga is coming along which is very very solid.

This team was one play away just a season ago. Now I don't think we are favorites but this team has the pieces to be Super Bowl caliber

And I am telling you that folks believe we need to bench Trey in favor of Jimmy because this team is "championship caliber" and we are wasting players best years. They don't give a s**t about Trey's development or the future of the franchise. Don't jump into the middle of the conversation and take my post out of context because you don't agree with part of my argument. Have the last word if you need but I am done with this conversation with you. Have a nice day.

Keep crying bud. All I did was point out a fact there's no context I am taking out of it. Facts are facts deal with it.

I do agree with you zero reason to take Trey out unless there's a major injury. He showed some very good promise Sunday. Wish he wild e hit Croft. He didn't lose this game. I take very little to nothing out of the end of the game monsoon.
The upcoming Seahawks game will go a long way to telling us what the season may be like. The "learning on the fly" narrative will only last so long. The weather cannot be used as an excuse for the poor first-half performance. Nor can we take solace in the fact he had some good runs. He was drafted to play QB better than Jimmy G, not to be another Cam Newton. The rest of the Super Bowl-ready roster will not be very happy if that learning experience extends into the Settle game and beyond. Not only will Lance lose favor with the roster, but Shanahan will lose favor as well if he stays with an ineffective QB at the expense of losing a potential home-field advantage in the playoffs.

OTOH, we can be encouraged if Lance can eliminate the most glaring mistakes like the Kroft overthrow. There was no excuse for that one. As Steve Young said, success will be measured in week-to-week improvement. As of now, Lance has plenty of room to improve. He needs to get to the point where he plays the game naturally rather than appearing to be playing like a robot at times.

Improvement will be incremental with dips along the way, so the path of development won't be linear. I do think his lack of experience in college throwing the ball will have an effect in how he looks to start this year. He needs to stop staring down his first read.
