I expected TL to be a mediocre passer and he is, but I did not expect him to be an average runner so that has been a disappointment... he looks more like a TE when running the ball, but if Shanny keeps running him like this he is going to get hurt.

That is one of his traits that caught my eye last season. He is a natural at feeling pressure and climbing the pocket while keeping his eyes down field. Imo, that is not something you can coach.
Agreed with all of these comments. His instincts are spot on. Can he work on accuracy and decision making? Of course. But his instincts within the pocket and when to hang in for a split second longer versus take off and run are excellent already. These positive and explosive plays aren't going to go away, but the mistakes and missed opportunities slowly will as he gets more experience and becomes more comfortable.
So much truth in this statement and it doesn't happen sitting on the bench. Fans need to be a hell of a lot more patient with him. Calling for him to be benched in his first game as a full time starter, where he was pretty much the entire offense, is just lunacy.
I am not saying that I am/was against bringing him back as the backup, especially with what he is being paid, but I also dont believe that fans would be calling for him to be benched if Jimmy wasnt here.

Has it? That's a genuine question.
So far we've seen comments about Trey's hairline, arm fatigue, counting wobbles, doesn't have IT factor, scared look in his eye, and labeled bust after one game in 2022.
As I've said repeatedly I'm all for being critical of Trey's film. I still don't think enough people care to actually discuss football. It's going to be very emotional every time we lose.
I should've put, *insert sarcasm*
I was completely joking. I find the conversation on "IT" pretty silly.
the IT factor is usually something fans cling to to say, "I can't really prove this guy is awesome or anything, but I think he's going to be awesome cause I believe something's there."
It's a blanket, can't qualify trait so I don't have to quantify it. I say it's there and therefor it is. Reminds me of Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy. Just because we declare it doesn't make it so.
Declaring someone has IT doesn't make it so. Along with all the weird things you're saying. He sucks, he's terrible, he's amazing. So much extremism.
Agreed. And I should have recognized the sarcasm. Usually my sarcasm radar is pretty good.

Another thing I would add that's hard not to like, his attitude. He is very mature which is refreshing. So imo his head is proper, but does it translate through the body on game days lol
One thing I noticed is at random times he seems to have silly mechanics, but most of the time he was keeping it tight which is good. He can do a weird 3/4 arm angle throw that just hurts my arm thinking about torqueing a football that way lol
I think with each week of experience and the staff on his ass he should getting better.
Accuracy is my #1 criteria in a QB. I know we all have our own traits. My tops is Accuracy

Yup. My favorite part of the game is how we had a 4th qtr lead and found ourselves behind the 8 ball so severely by the end that we needed to chuck it in those conditions. It would have been drier in the ocean.
Did I say favorite part? I meant least favorite. I wonder if Deebo didn't fumble or if TL hit Kroft. If both happen we are up by 1 point, if we only get a FG on the Deebo fumble. If either one happens.. it's a one score game and we can run on the final drives with wide action to Deebo. That would have been the ideal time to get their D running side to side on a sheet of water.

I'm still on the bandwagon. Hopefully we get a win this week. He does look slow though for a mobile qb. Wonder if it's hesitation?

That's fair and important. Lets hope he can improve that, but that ties into the random wonky mechanics etc. I think once it seems he knows the system, aka the plays are just muscle memory etc, his accuracy should be on point. We will al know as the weeks go by. Also id love accuracy to all parts of the fields this time as well!

Picked JT O'Sullivan over Alex Smith.
I wonder which QB went on to have a successful career?
BUT which one went on to have a successful YouTube channel? That's the real question.

Still looks indecisive at times whether throwing or running which makes him look slower for sure. Hopefully we improve this week & have a much better game! Go Trey Lance!

Yup. An average runner who picked up 6 1st downs with his legs including a 13 yarder on 3rd and 13.

Accuracy is the most important trait for a QB, period. Yet it is TL's weakest trait... you can't teach someone to have it if they don't already have it, TL doesn't.... it's like running fast, either you can or you can't, you can teach me the mechanics of running fast but it won't make me faster... Josh Allen? He already had the ability, he just needed to cleanup his delivery so he accuracy would be more consistent. TL is not Josh Allen.

I didn't know accuracy was something people were born with? Have scientists discovered what gene that is?
