That is what he developed, power runs up the middle! Genius!

No. You can't. Development can take several years. You don't know he doesn't have it, because if you could make that sort of assessment you would be earning millions in the NFL or NCAA. You aren't. So don't call a player a bust after just a couple of games.

Even in a rookie you should be able to see some good signs. What is it with Lance? Kyle doesn't seem to trust him at all.

There's still a chance he turns it around, but his ceiling is probably like Alex Smith.

I would have love to see Lance give the EARL THOMAS SPECIAL BYE on Shanny !!!

lol
Broken ankles heal fast and are only a matter of a month or so out. He will be back later this season. The question is do you want him to come back and back up for a few games then maybe start the last few weeks or have him be the backup for the rest of the season, or sit him the rest of the season. I would have him start the last few games for experience unless we are contenders. Then just back up rest of the season

Calling an injured player on his 4th start a bust is ridiculous. And swearing is not encouraged here.

You can tell when players have it and when they don't. Lance doesn't have it.

That's exactly what Mike Martz said about him last week. Martz knows QBs so I would take his word over Shanny's.

That being said, his ankle looked pretty messed up. We may never see the same version of him. Maybe never see him again.

I hope we've seen the last of this bust in a 49er uniform. Cut our losses and move on. 3 first round picks. Jesus christ.

Trey is shannahans guy. If after 3 games he's a bust then shannahan SUCKS and has to go. Lynch too.

You said so yourself. 3 first round picks for this bust? And shannahan wanted him? Shannahan needs to go.

I would agree, Shanny picked Lance and mortgaged the teams future to do it.

If he's a failure, Shanny goes.

This stuff is annoying and serves no real purpose. No one here knows the severity of his injury but we've seen other QB's come back from horrific leg injuries that were likely worse than what Lance suffered. Lets just wait and see before going all Private Hudson.
Smart play by Jimmy there. Good stuff.

Haha Martz knows QBs.

Here are Mike Martz' QB draft picks as a HC:

  • 1999 – Joe Germaine (4th round)
  • 2002 – Steve Bellisari (6th round)
  • 2004 – Jeff Smoker (6th round)
  • 2005 – Ryan Fitzpatrick (7th round)
  • 2007 – Drew Stanton (2nd round)
  • 2010 – Dan LeFevour (6th round)
  • 2011 – Nathan Enderle (5th round)

Most QBs don't amount to much. Of the ones that do, you can usually see their talent straight away. So when you have someone that doesn't look good, it just makes the chances of him becoming a franchise cornerstone all the more unlikely. It's like opening up an old pack of baseball cards. The pack is more expensive before opened because you don't know what's inside.

Was that from Forest Gump 2?

Who knows, God didn't want Trey to go 0-2, 0-3 or even 0-4, so he gets a season ending injury, clearly not his time yet.. he's only 22, another year to sit study mature grow and learn.

This just a really s**tty situation. Trey is going to miss another entire season of live reps, and then spend the majority of the off-season working on rehabbing his ankle instead of refining his mechanics.

He'll be fine, he's only 22. His time will come. He needs time to mature. Once Jimmy is gone for good, the team is his.
