Most QBs don't amount to much. Of the ones that do, you can usually see their talent straight away. So when you have someone that doesn't look good, it just makes the chances of him becoming a franchise cornerstone all the more unlikely. It's like opening up an old pack of baseball cards. The pack is more expensive before opened because you don't know what's inside.
Pretty much. Not everyone is Josh Allen who can come through in Year 3 after stinking up the joint for 2 years. Not that I am a gambling man, but if I had to bet my house on it, I doubt I would have the guts to put my money on Trey Lance after watching him from last year when he did play to the preseason and the Bears game. He just hasn't shown us anything and to my eyes he still doesn't look ready. I even went back to watch his college highlights that I must admit I liked a lot at the time, unfortunately it simply just hasn't translated to the NFL thus far.
I just don't see much actual flashes of talent from Trey.
I wish we could see some more from the games but with what we have seen(preseason included) and all training camp reports, there doesn't seem to be much there but some serious red flags.
what exactly does Trey have other than a strong arm and supposedly a likable guy?
There is a reason why those Trey Lance's rumors keep coming from the 9ers about the organization not feeling confident about the guy and about him not performing in camp, etc. If Lance was really killing it, it would have leaked like the Mahomes rumors based on his performance during practices before he took over the Chiefs from Alex Smith.
Seriously, I just haven't seen anything. He threw a long TD in the preseason? But, that's about it. And then, all the hype about his running ability, all I have been seeing is the guy runs downhill as if he was a short yardage back or linebacker. Kap at the time ran away from the opposing defenders and moved the chains. I just haven't been impressed at all and true enough soon or later he was always going to get injured. No QB can pound the ball like that.
